Taking her child to get vaccinated at the Na Sam Commune Health Station, Ms. Hoang Thi Lan (35 years old) is often consulted by the commune's population specialist on reproductive health care measures. She shared: Before, I still thought "having many children, many assets", but after many consultations, I understand that having few or many children must be appropriate to the health and conditions, family circumstances, the most important thing is to raise children well, take care of health. Therefore, after giving birth to the second child, I chose the family planning method to spend time developing the economy and taking care of the family.
Along with Ms. Lan, many women in the province have been propagandized and raised awareness about reproductive rights and reproductive health care, thereby choosing services suitable for their own health and family conditions. Ms. Hua Thi Thu Trang, a population specialist in Na Sam commune, informed: In order for people to be aware of the importance of reproductive health care, in recent years, we have organized regular and continuous propaganda in many diverse forms: integrated in village meetings, vaccination at health stations, at people's homes... Particularly from the beginning of 2025 to now, the commune has integrated more than 200 village meetings, with about 8,000 people; coordinated with women's groups to go to each house to talk and answer people's concerns. From there, introduce and guide them to use appropriate reproductive health care services.
World Population Day 11/7/2025 has the theme "Reproductive autonomy in a changing world". This message aims to emphasize the fundamental right of every individual, especially women and young people, to access information and health services to proactively, freely and responsibly make decisions about reproduction. |
Along with Na Sam commune, the provincial health sector and communes and wards in the province have always paid attention to disseminating and providing knowledge on reproductive health care, family planning, and raising public awareness of reproductive rights in various forms. From 2024 to present, the health sector has coordinated with media agencies inside and outside the province to publish more than 100 news, articles, and reports; coordinated with departments, branches, and organizations to organize integrated communication at conferences and meetings for more than 1,000 sessions for more than 25,000 listeners; disseminated, consulted, and provided family planning services at health stations for more than 2,800 sessions for more than 15,000 people. In particular, population specialists in communes and wards have disseminated at home to more than 6,000 households, and organized nearly 1,300 group meetings with more than 7,500 listeners.
When awareness is raised, people have proactively decided and chosen reproductive health care services. As a result, in the first 6 months of 2025 alone, the whole province had 52,600 people using modern contraceptive methods, equivalent to a rate of over 72%, reaching 100.5% compared to the target assigned in 2025; the whole province had 1,233 couples getting married, of which 483 couples received premarital counseling and health check-ups, reaching a rate of 39.1%, an increase of 7.1% compared to the same period in 2024.
Ms. Truong Thi Hang, Head of the Population Division, Department of Health said: Promoting the achieved results, in the coming time, the division will continue to research and advise the leaders of the Department of Health to direct regional health centers, commune and ward health stations to organize communication activities, provide consultation on reproductive health care services, family planning, adolescents, youth, and the elderly. At the same time, promote propaganda on pre-marital health check-ups, increase the rate of prenatal and newborn screening, strengthen the network of population collaborators at the grassroots level, apply information technology to manage population data, and improve the quality of population work.
With the synchronous participation of the health sector and authorities at all levels, reproductive health care in the province is increasingly being implemented effectively. This is not only an important step forward in improving population quality but also a solid foundation for building happy families, contributing to the sustainable development of the province.
