Purchasing power increases in the days before Tet

Through monitoring and working with localities and businesses, the Department of Industry and Trade said that the market situation during the 2024 Lunar New Year in the province is currently normal.

Accordingly, the prices of some essential goods increased slightly but remained stable in general and goods circulated smoothly, purchasing power gradually increased in some groups of goods such as: Food, electronics, household goods, cosmetics, ready-made clothes, shoes, decorative goods, beer, soft drinks... It is expected that in the days before Tet, purchasing power will continue to increase by 20 - 25% compared to normal, taking place vigorously from now until February 9, 2024 (ie December 29). The demand for goods focuses on fresh food, high-quality Vietnamese consumer industrial goods, flowers and ornamental plants for Tet decoration...

Regarding pork, the recent period has shown that domestic supply and demand have returned to balance and are consistent with the general food price level. The price of live pigs fluctuates at 52,000 - 55,000 VND/kg and the amount of pork circulating on the market is quite abundant, while the retail price at markets or points of sale is stable at 100,000 - 150,000 VND/kg (no increase compared to last year's Tet holiday). These days, supermarkets and convenience stores are still applying discount promotions to help stabilize pork prices.

Through inspection and working with units participating in market stabilization, the Department of Industry and Trade said that the supply of pork during this time is stable, adequate and the supply will increase in the days leading up to Tet. At the same time, it is assessed that the possibility of pork products serving before, during and after the 2024 Lunar New Year in Binh Thuan will not have major fluctuations...

Meanwhile, goods for Tet in mountainous areas and ethnic minority areas also basically meet the shopping needs of the people. Along with the implementation of price and freight subsidy policies, investment in advance and purchasing products at the production site of the Mountain Service Center, it has contributed to limiting the situation of private traders forcing down prices, helping to increase income for people to have conditions to shop during the Lunar New Year.

Particularly, Phu Quy area has implemented the plan of the Provincial People's Committee to ensure the reserve and supply of essential goods, means of transport for passengers and goods to serve the people during the Lunar New Year of Giap Thin and during the bad weather season in 2024. In general, the transportation of goods from the mainland to the island district has been quite regular and smooth, including many items serving the shopping needs of the island district's people. Such as fresh food, processed food, cakes and jams of all kinds, fruits for Tet... with prices not much higher than on the mainland and a fairly abundant amount of goods to ensure meeting the shopping and consumption needs of remote islands.

In preparation for the 2024 Lunar New Year, many businesses operating in Binh Thuan have previously participated in the program of reserving essential goods to stabilize the market. It is known that the total value of goods registered for market stabilization by the units is more than 391 billion VND, focusing on essential food items, processed foods, fresh foods, vegetables and fruits with high demand during the Tet holiday (such as rice, sticky rice, meat of livestock and poultry, eggs of all kinds, sugar, milk, cooking oil, instant noodles, vegetables and fruits, salt, spices, etc.). In addition to preparing a rich amount of goods with guaranteed quality, some units also organize mobile sales to serve people in rural areas, remote areas or industrial parks in the province.
