According to Dien Bien Provincial Police, in recent times, along with the development of social networks, heretical and cultic organizations such as “Salvation Grace”, “Eastern Lightning”, “Mother God”, “Jesus”, “Aunt Do”… have infiltrated the area and caused many impacts and consequences to the security and order situation. Among them, the “Aunt Do” cult stands out with its propaganda and distortion of the Bible to entice people to participate in illegal activities.
Through propaganda and mobilization by the authorities, many households signed a commitment to abandon the "Ba Co Do" cult in Huoi Lech commune, Muong Nhe district, Dien Bien province.
Talking to reporters, Captain Giang A De, Deputy Head of the PA02 Religious Security Team - Dien Bien Provincial Police said: "Aunt Do's real name is Vu Thi Do, born in 1977 and currently living in the US. Regarding her propaganda, first she claimed to be the one who gave birth to God, propagating on Youtube pages. Aunt Do has 4 children and claims her fourth child is God. Vu Thi Do believes that she has gone to heaven, met 12 Angels and was assigned by the Angels to bring news to the world. Aunt Do propagates that her son is God and will rule the world for 1000 years. Aunt Do's dreams and stories are fabricated, illusory, and not true to the nature of the Bible."
According to Captain Giang A De, this cult operates online. They have Zoom rooms (online meeting rooms) to meet and discuss with each other or private groups on Messenger (Facebook's chat application). The authorities are aware of these activities.

In addition to the above tricks, this cult group also takes advantage of the ethnic people's psychology and their difficult circumstances to sponsor money and material benefits to attract people to follow. Therefore, it has attracted many people, especially the Mong ethnic group.
Since 2017, Dien Bien Provincial Police have grasped the activities of the "Ba Co Do" cult, thereby promptly taking measures to review, propagate, and mobilize people to eradicate it. The functional forces have coordinated to organize more than 300 meetings with more than 26,000 participants to propagate the superstitious and reactionary nature of the cult and mobilize the masses not to believe in it. At the same time, they organized dialogues with 100% of households following the cult to grasp their thoughts and aspirations; contacted, deterred, and mobilized 247 individual leaders; handled 2 subjects for propagating false information...
Regarding the seizure of evidence, the authorities seized 17 copies of "Ba Co Do" propaganda documents compiled and printed by the subjects themselves; temporarily detained 11 phones and 1 laptop, which were the means used by the subjects to practice the cult online; and mobilized 864 individual cases of household heads to follow the cult. As a result, the authorities have mobilized to completely eliminate the "Ba Co Do" cult in the area.
Lieutenant Colonel Giang A Minh, Deputy Head of the Internal Security Department PA02 - Dien Bien Provincial Police, said: "Regarding the methods and tricks of the "Ba Co Do" cult, they take advantage of cyberspace. Second, they take advantage of the ethnic people's psychology and the difficult circumstances of local households. They sponsor money and materials to attract followers. Their nature is to take advantage of the orthodox Bible and ethnic issues to incorporate and attract reactionary elements."

According to Lieutenant Colonel Giang A Minh, the internet in Dien Bien province has now reached every commune and village. The number of villages without internet is very small. Therefore, cults like “Ba Co Do” have the conditions to spread quickly on cyberspace.
“After discovering this, we have reviewed and counted all households, assessed the nature and level of influence of this cult. Then we reported to the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee and the Provincial Committee to issue many documents directing the People's Committees of the districts and related departments and agencies. The districts established steering committees, assigned officers and soldiers, and went directly to the areas to propagate and mobilize. Most of the followers of this cult are ethnic minorities, so their level of understanding is limited. They cannot distinguish between the orthodox Bible and the distorted Bible. The process of propaganda and mobilization also encountered many difficulties,” said Lieutenant Colonel Giang A Minh.
Through many years of propaganda, by means such as directly going to the villages to propagate and mobilize, gradually the authorities also helped households understand which Bible is orthodox and which is distorted and reactionary. After realizing this, they committed to abandoning it. Currently, most households have returned to practicing orthodox religions recognized by the State.
