Reprinting of Mongolian novel "Blue Thami River" in Vietnam

On November 22, on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the establishment of Vietnam-Mongolia diplomatic relations (1954-2024), the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations (VUFO) in coordination with the Embassy of Mongolia in Vietnam held a ceremony to introduce the novel "The Clear Thami River".

Speaking at the ceremony, VUFO Vice President Nguyen Ngoc Hung affirmed that the relationship between Vietnam and Mongolia is not only built on a historical foundation, but also on empathy, mutual respect and the desire for mutual development.

Over the past 70 years, the two countries have together built milestones of cooperation in the fields of politics , economics, culture, education, security and defense.

The VUFO President said that after many decades, people-to-people exchange between Vietnam and Mongolia has become one of the solid foundations for the bilateral relationship.

Generations of people from both countries not only share traditional values ​​but also contribute to building a friendly relationship and partnership for mutual development. In particular, culture is the thread that binds nations and peoples together.

According to Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Hung, the presence of the novel The Blue Thami River - one of the most outstanding works of Mongolian literature in Vietnam is a testament to the close cooperation and sustainable development of the country. This is not only a literary work but also a spiritual gift that we give to each other.

Introducing this work, Ms. Doan Thi Huong - former Vietnamese Ambassador to Mongolia said, The Blue Thami River is considered one of the best works of the 20th century. Only published for a short time, the novel was compiled into a script and filmed.

As an epic novel, The Blue Thami River takes readers to the most turbulent and intense period in Mongolia's modern history, from 1914 when World War I began until 1932 when the People's Revolutionary Party crushed the counter-revolutionary rebellion.

The novel's structure is rich in form and content with many characters with different fates and lives. Nature and scenery are also fully described in all four seasons: Spring, Summer, Autumn, Winter. Each season has its own unique and charming beauty, a very typical beauty of the steppe country.

Ms. Doan Thi Huong shared: “Before coming to Mongolia for work (August 2017), I read the book The Blue Thami River and was really captivated from the first pages of the book. I admire the author and the heroic Mongolian people.

This country is so strange, a vast country but so far only has more than 3 million people, a country of gentle, honest people with open souls, as vast as the Mongolian land and sky, as endless green steppe.

I also went to the Thami River many times, in different seasons, to feel the life and resilience of each character in the work to overcome their fate.

At the ceremony, Mongolian Ambassador to Vietnam Jigjee Sereejav expressed his sincere thanks to VUFO and the Vietnam-Mongolia Friendship Association for creating the opportunity to work with the Embassy to reintroduce this book to the Vietnamese public.

Writer Hoang Thuy Toan also expressed his joy when the book The Clear Thami River was republished on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the establishment of Vietnam-Mongolia diplomatic relations.

Chadraabal Lôdíđamba's work The Blue Thami River was twice awarded the State Prize - the highest award for historical, cultural and social works in Mongolia and is considered a unique phenomenon in Mongolian literature and played an important role in the formation of the novel genre in the 1950s and 1960s.

The Blue Thami River has been translated into many languages ​​around the world such as Russian, Czech, Romanian, Bulgarian, Vietnamese, Korean, Japanese, Chinese...

First published by the Vietnamese Literature Publishing House in 1975 - translated from Russian by Nguyen Thap. Most recently, in 2024, the work was translated into French and reached many French readers.

Author Chadraabal Lôđồiđamba was born in 1917 in Gobi Antai province in a family with a tradition of literature and folk storytelling. As a talented writer, Chadraabal Lôđồiđamba wrote many works that were loved by readers and won many awards.
