According to these documents, CIA agents believed that Hitler had survived World War II, changed his name to “Adolf Schrittelmayor” and was still alive in the 1950s.
Officially, Hitler is believed to have committed suicide in his bunker on April 30, 1945, as the Allies were closing in on the capital city of Berlin.

The new revelations come ahead of Argentine President Javier Milei's order to declassify more documents related to Nazis who fled to Argentina after World War II.
According to DailyMail.com, CIA documents declassified in 2020 showed that agents investigated “Hitler’s hideout in Argentina” shortly after the war ended. Even as late as 1955, the CIA was still following up on leads through local sources.
One of the most notable pieces of information is that Hitler - under the pseudonym Schrittelmayor - is said to have taken refuge in a hotel in La Falda, Argentina. There is also a photograph of a man who looks very much like Hitler sitting on a bench in Tunja, Colombia - further fuelling speculation that he is still alive. Hitler is said to have moved to Argentina in January 1955.

However, the documents also show that the intelligence agency eventually concluded that efforts to find Hitler had yielded no concrete results.
“It is believed that this case will require a large amount of resources, with little chance of obtaining conclusive evidence,” an internal report said.
