At around 1:45 a.m. on June 19, a particularly serious traffic accident occurred at Km46+100 of the Da Nang – Quang Ngai Expressway (section through Binh Chanh Commune, Thang Binh District, Quang Nam Province), killing two people on the spot and injuring many others.
At that time, the passenger bus with license plate 15H-098.25, carrying more than 10 passengers, traveling from North to South, when arriving at the above location, suddenly crashed into the rear of the tractor-trailer with license plate 29H-928.77, pulling a trailer 29R-000.74, driven by driver Le Xuan Hung (born in 1981, residing in Vinh Tuong, Vinh Phuc ), which was stopped in the emergency lane.

The extremely strong collision completely deformed the front of the bus. The two people who died on the spot were identified as Pham Duc Toan (born in 1976, bus driver) and Nguyen Van Thang (bus assistant). In addition, 2 passengers suffered broken legs, 7 others with minor injuries were taken to the hospital for emergency treatment.
Immediately after receiving the news, Traffic Police Team No. 1 (under Highway Traffic Police Team No. 5), led by Lieutenant Colonel Le Xuan Thuong, Team Leader, quickly arrived at the scene to organize rescue, traffic control, protect the scene, and arrange patrol cars to take the 5 victims to the emergency room in time.
Through a quick test, the authorities did not detect any alcohol or drugs in the tractor-trailer driver’s body. The task force also coordinated with other authorities to cut open the cabin to safely bring the trapped victims out.
The cause of the incident is currently being investigated by the Quang Nam Provincial Police Department. Traffic police are coordinating to speed up the investigation and clearing of the scene to ensure safe traffic.
