On June 12, after many hours of heavy rain due to the impact of storm No. 1 (Wutip), many landslides appeared on the roads leading to Son Tra peninsula ( Da Nang city), posing a potential safety risk to residents and tourists traveling through this area.

According to the reporter of Vietnam Law Newspaper, Hoang Sa road leading to Son Tra peninsula (Tho Quang ward, Son Tra district) has about 10 large and small landslides.

In the area near Linh Ung Pagoda and Dong Dinh Museum, rocks, soil, and trees from the slopes overflowed, covering most of the road surface.

Some large rocks weighing more than 1 ton also rolled down, posing a potential traffic accident risk.

Mr. Ho Thanh Tuan, a technology car driver who regularly takes tourists to Son Tra peninsula, said: “I picked up passengers early in the morning, and as soon as I got to Son Tra peninsula, I saw many landslides. Some workers used wheelbarrows to clear the small rocks, but the biggest ones spilled out onto most of the road, leaving only a 3m path, which was very dangerous. I will temporarily stop taking passengers on this route today to ensure safety.”

On the same morning, Da Nang Bridge and Road Joint Stock Company coordinated with the Management Board of Son Tra Peninsula and tourist beaches and related units to clean up the scene.

Specialized vehicles are being mobilized to move large rocks, ensuring initial smooth traffic.

At noon the same day, the Son Tra Peninsula Management Board announced the temporary suspension of all sightseeing activities to prevent unfortunate accidents.

The temporarily closed routes include Yet Kieu; Ban Co Peak; Bai Bac; Bai Bac; Cay Da di ha; and the Tien Sa route to Ban Co Peak. Hoang Sa route, from Le Van Luong intersection to the front of the Intercontinental Resort, is still being urgently repaired.

The Management Board recommends that residents and visitors should not travel to the peninsula area until the weather stabilizes and there is a reopening notice from the authorities.

Authorities are present at Son Tra Peninsula to clear small rocks that have rolled onto the road. Authorities are mobilizing mechanical vehicles to clear the large landslides.
