Luu Vinh Son commune (Thach Ha district, Ha Tinh province) is considered the place that grows the most peach blossoms in Ha Tinh province. These days, peach blossom growers in Luu Vinh Son commune are mobilizing human resources to strip leaves so that peach trees can bud and sprout so that the trees can bloom on time to serve customers.

For nearly 30 years, peach blossom has been considered the main source of income for the people. Therefore, care is the top priority for the people at this time.

Peach growers said that usually from around the middle of the 11th lunar month every year, flower growers are busy going out to the garden to strip the peach trees of their leaves.

According to the people, depending on the weather, the leaf stripping process takes place earlier or later. Choosing the right time to strip the leaves is quite important so that the peach tree blooms at the right time, sells for a high price, and supplies during the Lunar New Year.

Mr. Tran Van Duc (born in 1971, residing in Kim Son village) is one of the local households with over 10 years of experience in growing peach trees. This year, his family's garden has over 300 trees out of a total of 600 trees that will be supplied for the Lunar New Year 2025.

These days, Mr. Duc and his family members take advantage of every moment to strip the leaves of the trees so that they can bloom on Tet. According to Mr. Duc, stripping the leaves helps the trees concentrate their nutrients so that the buds are even and numerous, and the flowers will bloom with large, thick petals and beautiful colors.

Some peach blossoms bloom early in the last days of the year.

Mr. Tran Ba ​​Hoanh, Chairman of the People's Committee of Luu Vinh Son Commune, said that the whole commune has 600 households growing peaches on an area of ​​112 hectares, of which about 300 households grow peaches in large quantities. This year, it is expected that about 70% of the peach area will be old enough to supply the market.

“If the weather is favorable, hopefully this year will bring a large source of income for local people. For example, during the 2024 Tet holiday, the whole commune earned over 10 billion VND from peach growing. Peach growing has existed for about 30 years, helping many families in the commune escape poverty and become rich,” said Chairman of the People’s Committee of the commune, Luu Vinh Son.
