Summer is the time when the risk of drowning accidents increases because young people often go to ponds, lakes, rivers... to play. To prevent unfortunate incidents from happening, the Youth Union and Young Pioneers in the province have been actively promoting propaganda activities and instructing young people on drowning prevention skills.

On May 12, Uc Ky Secondary School (Phu Binh) organized a propaganda program to prevent drowning and injuries with the participation of all teachers, staff and over 500 students in the school. At Xuan Phuong Secondary School, Ms. Ly Thi Hoa, the teacher in charge of the Youth Union , informed: After the end of the school year exam, next week (from May 19 to 25), the Youth Union will organize a Young Pioneers Propaganda Festival, where students will compete to learn about knowledge about preventing injuries and drowning.

Not only the two schools above, as a locality with dozens of kilometers of Cau River and Dao River flowing through and 125 large and small lakes and dams, other schools and youth union bases in Phu Binh district also pay attention to drowning prevention work.

Mr. Duong Van Duyen, Deputy Secretary of Phu Binh District Youth Union, shared: In reality, there are cases where people who know how to swim still drown because they swim in dangerous areas with strong currents. Therefore, every year, we organize training courses, focusing on propaganda and instruction on drowning prevention skills and injury accidents for children and adolescents.

This summer, the District Youth Union continues to direct and guide 41 teams, 4 high schools, 20 commune and town unions in the district to organize activities in many forms to ensure safety and prevent drowning for children and adolescents, organize free swimming classes, give life jackets, and put up warning signs in deep and dangerous water areas... - Mr. Duong Van Duyen

In addition to teaching basic swimming skills, knowledge, skills, handling, and first aid in drowning situations. This not only helps children protect themselves but also can give first aid to friends when bad situations occur.

In the province, there have been a number of tragic drowning accidents due to storms and rains, with the victims being children... Therefore, propaganda work not only focuses on raising awareness among students but also on parents.
