Answering this question, Mr. Nguyen Quoc Dung - Head of Business Department of Vietnam Electricity Group (EVN) said that for the household customer group, the current rate of household electricity usage is divided into consumption levels, from low to high.
Of which, households using less than 50 kWh of electricity (accounting for 11.51% of households), the electricity bill increased by about 4,350 VND/household/month. The group of customers using from 51 kWh - 100 kWh (accounting for 15.53% of households), the electricity bill increased by about 8,850 VND/household/month. The group of customers using from 101 kWh - 200 kWh (accounting for 34.31% of households, currently the largest customer group), the electricity bill increased by about 19,250 VND/household/month. The group of customers using from 201 kWh - 300 kWh (accounting for 8.5% of electricity customers), the electricity bill increased by about 32,350 VND/household/month. For the group of customers using electricity from 301 - 400 kWh (accounting for about 8.87% of electricity customers), the increase in electricity bill is about 47,050 VND/household/month. For the group of customers using electricity from 400 kWh or more (accounting for about 11.28% of electricity customers), the increase in electricity bill is about 62,150 VND/household/month.
For common household customers (200 kWh/month or less), according to Mr. Nguyen Quoc Dung, the total number of household customers using electricity from 200kWh/month or less is 17.41 million households, corresponding to 61.35% of the total number of households using electricity for household use.
According to calculations, the average additional electricity bill for each household consuming 200 kWh/month or less is 13,800 VND/household. Along with the adjustment of household electricity prices, the new retail electricity price applied to manufacturing industries has also been adjusted. For voltage levels of 22 kV to under 110 kV, the price is from 1,749 - 3,242 VND/kWh, depending on the time frame. For voltage levels of 6 kV - under 22 kV, the selling price is from 1,812 - 3,348 VND/kWh, depending on the time frame.
Mr. Nguyen Xuan Nam - Deputy General Director of Vietnam Electricity Group (EVN) also said that in November 2023, the electricity price was adjusted up and now the next increase will be made. The electricity price increase complies with Decision 05/2024/QD-TTg of the Prime Minister regulating the mechanism for adjusting the average retail electricity price and guiding documents.
EVN representative said that the increase in electricity price to 2,103.11 VND/kWh, equivalent to an increase of 4.8%, does not greatly affect people's lives. This increase in electricity price does not greatly affect poor households because the State's support policy for poor households and social policy households on electricity bills is currently implemented according to Decision No. 28/2014 of the Prime Minister. Accordingly, poor households are supported with monthly electricity bills equivalent to the amount of electricity used by 30 kWh/household/month. For social policy households with electricity usage of no more than 50 kWh/month, the support level is also equivalent to the amount of electricity used by 30 kWh/household/month. The support level for poor households and social policy households is 59,500 VND/household/month. If the new price is applied, each poor household will be supported with electricity bills of about 62,500 VND/household/month.
On the business side, according to Mr. Bach Hong Long, Deputy General Director of Garment 10 Corporation, the adjustment to increase the average retail electricity price by 4.8% creates more pressure on the production and business activities of enterprises. However, to cope, enterprises are making efforts to apply measures to save electricity, optimize production and business...
In addition, to adapt to the increase in production costs, including electricity prices, the textile industry itself has set out solutions for development goals, in which businesses have used solar power (rooftop). Currently, some businesses such as May 10, Viet Tien... have invested in rooftop solar power to reduce difficulties in electricity costs.
From the challenge of increasing electricity prices, textile and garment enterprises must also calculate and tighten investment costs to balance prices and ensure competitiveness with enterprises in the region.
According to experts, increasing electricity prices, in addition to correctly and fully calculating production and business costs for enterprises, also creates pressure for saving electricity and using electricity more effectively./.
