( Quang Ngai Newspaper) - A civilized country must consider reading as a cultural activity of the entire population, of each citizen, especially the young. This year, Vietnam Book and Reading Culture Day takes place from April 15 to May 1 nationwide. In reality, many students have almost no time or conditions to read books.
Because of having to take extra classes, and also because families do not really care enough about their children's reading... the people who need to read books the most, and need to create the habit of reading books the most, both lack books and do not have the habit of reading books.

To help students, especially middle school students, have good books to read, gradually creating a reading habit for them, our volunteer group has established the "Dang Thuy Tram Bookshelf" to mobilize the provision of good books for middle schools, starting from Quang Ngai. Currently, Pho Cuong Middle School (Duc Pho Town) has "Dang Thuy Tram Bookshelf", and the students here have good books to read, gradually creating a joy of reading for them.
Nam Dan Secondary School (Mo Duc) also received a bookcase named after the female hero and martyr Dang Thuy Tram, a brave doctor and patriotic intellectual who sacrificed her life on the Duc Pho battlefield. During her lifetime, Ms. Tram was very fond of reading books, and her work "Dang Thuy Tram's Diary" was famous in the country and the world . Therefore, building the "Dang Thuy Tram Bookcase" is to encourage students to follow the example of loving to read books, taking books as their close confidants as Dr. Dang Thuy Tram did during the war.
On the occasion of Vietnam Book and Reading Culture Day, it is necessary to call on all social classes to contribute to building bookcases and libraries for schools. Good books must reach students, the generation that needs books the most, and needs good books to read, in order to create for them the habit of reading, and choose books as their sincere friends throughout their lives.
Books are for reading, and reading culture is not just about talking, but must be practiced by all means, especially for students, for young people. If we want our country to be not only prosperous but also civilized, then reading culture is an activity that must take place normally throughout the year, and for many years. The image of a person reading books wherever possible is the most beautiful image of Vietnamese people in the near future. We must do that so that Vietnamese people have the habit of reading books every day.
