Provincial Blind Association celebrates 50th anniversary of Doi Moi Magazine

(QNO) - On June 19, the Quang Nam Association of the Blind held a ceremony to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the establishment of Doi Moi Magazine and the 100th anniversary of Vietnam Revolutionary Press Day (June 21, 1925 - June 21, 2025).

Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Le Van Xin - Chairman of the Association of the Blind in Quang Nam province said that Doi Moi magazine is the official voice of the Vietnam Association of the Blind, a bridge connecting the blind community with society over the past 5 decades.

From a hand-printed braille newsletter in 1975, Doi Moi gradually developed into a multimedia magazine with three formats: braille, cassette tapes and regular national language printing. Despite difficult material conditions, lack of machinery and a part-time editorial team, the magazine has persistently accompanied the blind, promptly conveying the Party's guidelines, the State's policies, social knowledge and inspiring everyday stories to its members.

With the development of technology, Doi Moi magazine has expanded its radio channels, videos , fanpages, electronic information portals and phone applications, helping blind people easily access information through both touch and hearing.

With more than 21 thousand cadres and members regularly following the Magazine in many forms, Doi Moi has truly become a spiritual friend and a trusted guide for the blind community in Vietnam.

In Quang Nam, the Provincial Blind Association always actively responds to the Central Association's propaganda activities, participates in writing contests, research movements, and contributes articles to the Doi Moi magazine.

Many contributors such as Nguyen Ngoc Xinh (Thang Binh), Nguyen Huu Ly, Tran Huu Quoc (Dien Ban), Mien Thuong (Hoi An), Nguyen Su (Provincial Association)... have regularly sent news and articles about the association's activities and examples of blind people overcoming difficulties to rise up. Notably, in 2020, member Vo Ngoc Pho (Duy Xuyen) won third prize in the ONKYO writing contest in the Asia- Pacific region.

On this occasion, the Blind Association of Quang Nam province awarded individuals with outstanding achievements in news and article collaboration, and many achievements in the development of Doi Moi magazine.
