Speaking at the event, journalist Nguyen Tan Phong, Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City Journalists Association, affirmed: Over the past 50 years, the city's press has continuously grown, closely following reality, vividly reflecting all aspects of social life, making an important contribution to the overall development. The city's press team is not afraid of difficulties, dedicated to reality, creating many quality works, valuable in content and timeliness.

This year, the Ho Chi Minh City Press Awards have been upgraded in both quality and scale. This year, the awards have been innovated in a more specialized direction, expanding the structure with a separate category for works on Party building. At the same time, the City People's Council also passed a Resolution to increase the reward level, with the value of each award increasing by about 30%, with a category almost equivalent to the National Press Awards.

Speaking at the ceremony, Member of the Party Central Committee, Standing Deputy Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee Nguyen Thanh Nghi highly appreciated the role of the press in the construction and development of the city; increasingly demonstrating steadfast political mettle, sharpness, creativity and being an important bridge between the Party and the people.

"The press needs to continue to promote its pioneering role in maintaining ideological orientation, protecting the Party's theoretical foundation, and fighting against false and negative information. At the same time, it is necessary to promote digital transformation, apply artificial intelligence, and big data to adapt to the modern media environment," emphasized comrade Nguyen Thanh Nghi.

The Standing Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee also requested that the city's press agencies continue to invest in improving the quality of content, production techniques and training a team of journalists with courage, ethics and high expertise. This is a key task in the journey to turn Ho Chi Minh City into a smart city, a major center of the Southeast Asian region.
