Vietnam National Oil and Gas Group (Petrovietnam): New milestone - New vision for sustainable development

In order to realize sustainable development goals, Petrovietnam has officially taken on a new name: Vietnam National Industry and Energy Group.

According to Conclusion No. 76-KL/TW dated April 24, 2024 of the Politburo , the Vietnamese oil and gas industry needs to promote its advantages to become a driving force for the development of renewable energy and new energy sectors such as offshore wind power, hydrogen, and ammonia. At the same time, the Conclusion also clearly defines the orientation of building the Vietnam Oil and Gas Group into a comprehensive industrial - energy group.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh listened to Petrovietnam leaders introduce innovations in the Group's operations and application of science and technology.

Responding to this policy, at the 2024 Year-end Conference and 2025 Plan Implementation, under the witness of Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and leaders of Central Ministries and Branches, the ceremony to announce the new name of Vietnam National Industry and Energy Group officially took place. This is a milestone of strategic significance, affirming the strong transformation of Petrovietnam in the context of the global energy transition trend and the commitment to Net Zero by 2050.

Authorized by the Prime Minister, Deputy Prime Minister Bui Thanh Son handed over the decision to rename the Vietnam National Energy and Industry Group.

Immediately after that, the Group urgently implemented the construction of a new development strategy, researched a new brand identity, and completed legal procedures to operate under the new name. Petrovietnam's development vision will be based on three strategic pillars: Energy - Industry - Services, in which Energy is the core pillar.

On April 9, 2025, the Prime Minister officially signed a decision to change the name of the Vietnam Oil and Gas Group to the Vietnam National Industry and Energy Group. The new designation not only expands the Group's scope of operations, but also affirms its central position in the national energy sector, as the main force in ensuring energy security, developing modern industry, and promoting high-tech services.

In the new development trend, Petrovietnam will focus on 3 main pillars: Energy - Industry - Services.

The name change is an important milestone after 50 years of development and growth of Petrovietnam, inheriting and promoting the value of 64 years of tradition in the Vietnamese oil and gas industry. This is also an affirmation of the Group's determination to innovate its strategy, operating model and technology - to meet the expectations of the Party, State and people in the new era.

Vietnam National Energy Industry Group with its new mission not only aims to modernize the energy industry, but also focuses on digital transformation, greening production activities, and actively participating in the global energy chain.
