Training on the Project on developing a nutritious food system

During 2 days (October 15 and 16), in Son La province, the Department of Economic Cooperation and Rural Development (Ministry of Agriculture and Environment) coordinated with the International Center for Tropical Agriculture (CIAT) to organize a training course on the Project on developing a nutritious food system for more than 100 delegates who are officers in charge of agriculture, health, and rural development in Dien Bien, Lang Son, Lai Chau, Phu Tho, Bac Giang, Tuyen Quang, Son La provinces and officers in charge of agriculture, health, and rural development in 15 communes in Son La province.

Delegates received the following topics: The National Action Program "No Hunger" associated with the transformation of a transparent, responsible and sustainable food system in Vietnam in the new context; the need to transform the food system and efforts to integrate it with the National Target Program for Sustainable Poverty Reduction; implementing nutrition integration to contribute to transforming the food system in national target programs; Son La province's sharing on the process of building a plan to transform a transparent, responsible and sustainable food system in Son La province until 2030; the current situation of food security, nutrition security and household nutrition in Son La; introduction of the handbook for building a project to develop a food system to ensure adequate nutrition and orientation in the coming period.

The conference aims to improve general understanding of the food system and the Food Development Project to ensure nutrition for officials in the Northern Midlands and Mountains provinces in general and Son La province in particular; guide the steps to build, organize implementation, monitor and evaluate the food system development project to ensure adequate nutrition for stakeholders.
