According to the Central Command (CENTCOM) - the department responsible for monitoring US military operations in the Middle East region, the Eisenhower aircraft carrier strike group completed its transit through the Strait of Hormuz to enter the waters of the Persian Gulf.
CENTCOM also said the Eisenhower strike group will conduct patrols to ensure freedom of navigation along important international waterways, as well as support “CENTCOM requirements throughout the region.”

Last month, US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin said the Pentagon was sending the USS Dwight Eisenhower aircraft carrier strike group to the Persian Gulf and deploying additional air defense forces throughout the region.
The US dispatch of warships to the region comes as the US predicts more attacks from proxy forces of hostile countries.
Anti-American sentiment has been on the rise in the Middle East since Israel launched an offensive in Gaza with Washington's active support in retaliation for a Hamas raid that killed 1,400 people, mostly civilians.
Nearly 40 attacks have targeted bases housing US forces in Syria and Iraq in recent times, in which the attacks have injured at least 45 US soldiers.
In addition, the Pentagon also sent the USS Gerald R. Ford aircraft carrier strike group to the Eastern Mediterranean with the aim of deterring any third party that wants to join the conflict against Israel.
The situation in the Middle East has been increasingly tense recently, after the ceasefire agreement, Israel and Hamas have exchanged hostages and prisoners for the third time. Hamas said it had handed over 13 Israelis, 3 Thais and a Russian national on November 26. The International Committee of the Red Cross confirmed that they had successfully transferred these people from Gaza.
The third hostage release brings the number of Israelis freed by Hamas to 39 since November 24. In return, 39 more Palestinian prisoners were freed on November 26 after 78 others were released from Israeli detention camps in the previous two days, bringing the total to 117.
The ceasefire between Israel and Hamas will last for four days and end on November 27. Hamas has agreed to release about 50 hostages, mostly children and women. Israel also released a list of 300 Palestinian prisoners who could be released in the exchange, although Hamas initially said Israel would only release 150.
