The AVF (Vietnamese Language Department) and the Vietnamese Association in Kitakyushu, together with the children, prepared many special performances and interesting games such as learning about Mid-Autumn Festival customs, lion dances, decorating fruit trays, picking democratic flowers, carrying star lanterns, and quizzes... thereby helping Vietnamese and Japanese children of Vietnamese origin born and raised in Japan understand more about the customs and traditional cultural beauty of Vietnam.
Speaking at the two events, Consul General Vu Chi Mai welcomed and highly appreciated the initiative, as well as the careful preparation of the AVF Association and the Vietnamese Association in Kitakyushu for organizing a very meaningful and humane activity for children (the second generation of Vietnamese people in Japan); this healthy and useful playground not only helps Vietnamese children and children of Vietnamese origin understand more about the traditional culture of the nation but also contributes to arousing the feeling of community and nation cohesion, at the same time this event also helps local people understand more about the unique culture of the Vietnamese people, thereby helping to enhance cultural exchange between the people of the two countries. Ms. Vu Chi Mai affirmed that the Consulate General always accompanies and is ready to support community activities and expressed her hope that the AVF Association and the Vietnamese Association in Kitakyushu will continue to have more useful activities, creating an environment for exchange and connection between generations and families living, working and studying in Japan, thereby preserving the Vietnamese language for children and preserving the national cultural identity.
