Vietnam National Administration of Tourism said that in July, Vietnam welcomed more than 1.03 million international visitors, up 6.5% over the previous month. This is the first month since the beginning of this year that the tourism industry has welcomed more than 1 million international visitors. In the first 7 months, the total number of foreign visitors to our country reached nearly 6.6 million, equivalent to 83% of the 2023 plan.
Of which, South Korea continued to be the largest market sending visitors in the past 7 months with nearly 1.9 million arrivals (accounting for nearly 1/3 of the total number of visitors). China ranked 2nd, reaching 738,000 arrivals; the US ranked 3rd with 445,000 arrivals.
The top 10 markets still include names from the Northeast Asia region including: South Korea (1.8 million arrivals), China (738,000 arrivals), Taiwan (415,000 arrivals), Japan (284,000 arrivals); Southeast Asia has 3 markets: Thailand (290,000 arrivals); Malaysia (262,000 arrivals); Cambodia (225,000 arrivals). Australia ranked 9th with 221,000 arrivals to Vietnam. The emerging market of India ranked 10th (213,000 arrivals).
In Europe, the UK (147,500 arrivals), France (120,800 arrivals) and Germany (111,800 arrivals) are the largest markets sending visitors. The Russian market, despite its difficulties, also reached 69,900 arrivals in the first 7 months of the year.

In the domestic market, 12.5 million tourists traveled during this peak summer month, of which 8.3 million stayed. The total number of domestic tourists in the first 7 months of the year reached 76.5 million, bringing in an estimated revenue of VND416,000 billion for the tourism industry.

Regarding growth momentum in July, the Tourism Department assessed that Europe had the best growth rate among the continents, up 27% compared to June. This included contributions from key markets such as the UK (+14.5%), France (+35.9%), Germany (+27.3%). In addition, there were Norway (+250.8%), Belgium (+154%), Denmark (+152%), the Netherlands (+44.6%), and Spain (+52.9%).
In July, Vietnam's leading tourism markets all increased compared to the previous month: South Korea (+6%), China (+14%), the US (+7%), Taiwan (+31.3%), Japan (+15%), Australia (+34.3%). Some nearby markets in the Southeast Asian region recorded a decrease in the number of visitors, including: Thailand (-19.1%), Malaysia (-24.5%), Cambodia (-9.8%).

"With 83% of the yearly plan for welcoming international visitors achieved after only 7 months, the tourism industry is likely to soon complete its target and still has a lot of room to continue growing when entering the peak international tourism season at the end of the year," said the leader of the National Tourism Administration.
