The Chairman of the Vietnam Sub-Committee is the Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade. The Secretary of the Vietnam Sub-Committee is a Department-level official of the Government Office .
The standing members of the Sub-Committee include: Department/Office level representatives of the Ministries of Industry and Trade, Foreign Affairs , Construction, Finance, Agriculture and Environment, Science and Technology, and the State Bank of Vietnam. Depending on the content of each meeting of the Joint Committee, the Chairman of the Sub-Committee may invite representatives of relevant Ministries, branches, localities, and enterprises to participate.
The presiding agency of the Sub-Committee is the Ministry of Industry and Trade . The working group of the Vietnam Sub-Committee is located at the Ministry of Industry and Trade. The specific composition of the working group is decided by the Chairman of the Vietnam Sub-Committee. The decision clearly states that, when necessary, sub-committees and working groups can be established depending on the operational needs of the Joint Committee.
Members of the Vietnam Sub-Committee work part-time, are personally responsible for their assigned work areas and comply with the provisions of Decision No. 30/2016/QD-TTg dated July 28, 2016 of the Prime Minister on the establishment, organization and operation of the Vietnam Sub-Committee in the Intergovernmental Committee with foreign countries.
The Chairman of the Vietnam Branch uses the seal of the Ministry of Industry and Trade in administrative transactions.
* Vietnam - Cuba has a special friendship and is growing stronger in many fields, especially trade. With close cooperation, trade between the two countries has achieved remarkable achievements, making an important contribution to the economic development of both countries.
In recent years, bilateral trade turnover between Vietnam and Cuba has fluctuated around more than 100 million USD per year. Currently, Vietnam is Cuba's second largest Asian trade partner with bilateral trade turnover in 2024 reaching about 134.7 million USD.
Of which, Vietnam exported 133.36 million USD to Cuba, up 184.3% and imported 1.33 million USD from Cuba. Vietnam's main export items to Cuba include rice, electrical appliances, electronics, clothing, footwear, cosmetics, construction materials, household appliances, stationery... Most prominent are rice, consumer goods, construction materials, fertilizers and medical equipment. Rice is a strategic export item, helping Cuba ensure food security. In addition, products such as cement, steel and textiles are also in high demand in the Cuban market.
In contrast, Vietnam imports from Cuba products with strengths such as pharmaceuticals, vaccines, activated carbon and rum. In particular, Cuba's biotechnology and pharmaceutical sectors are very developed, with many high-value products trusted by Vietnam.
At the same time, Vietnam is the largest investor in Asia in Cuba with five major projects, including Cuba's first limited-term exploitation concession project for a 100% Vietnamese-invested enterprise.
Vietnam and Cuba have signed many important trade agreements, notably the 2018 Bilateral Trade Agreement, which helps facilitate import-export and investment activities between the two countries.
