Within the framework of his visit to Vietnam, on October 3, in Ho Chi Minh City, President of the Cuban National Assembly Esteban Lazo Hernandez and a high-ranking Cuban delegation visited and worked with the Ho Chi Minh City Union of Friendship Organizations (HUFO) and Ho Chi Minh City University of Technical Education.

Welcoming the delegation at HUFO, Mr. Nguyen Van Loi, Head of the National Assembly Delegation of Ho Chi Minh City, reviewed the 65-year tradition of Vietnam-Cuba friendship; affirmed that the visit of the National Assembly Chairman and the high-ranking delegation of the Cuban National Assembly is a vivid manifestation of the special solidarity and friendship between the two peoples - a relationship that was painstakingly cultivated by President Ho Chi Minh and leader Fidel Castro and is today being preserved and promoted by successive generations of the two countries as a priceless treasure.

Mr. Nguyen Van Loi affirmed that the City always respects and remembers the affection that the Cuban people have given to the Vietnamese people during the years of fighting for independence and in the cause of national construction and development.

The immortal saying of leader Fidel Castro: "For Vietnam, Cuba is willing to sacrifice its blood" is always engraved in the hearts of millions of Vietnamese people.

That affection is not only a faithful promise, but has become an immortal symbol of the pure and loyal brotherly relationship between the two peoples, passed down from generation to generation like a warm flame that never goes out.

The Vietnamese people will never forget the kindness of the country and people of Cuba and will always be by your side, sharing the joys and sorrows, and overcoming difficulties with Cuba.

According to Mr. Loi, if there is a friendship that can be described with the most beautiful words, it is the friendship between Vietnam and Cuba.

“It is a friendship that has been forged in hardship, nurtured by sacrifice, cherished by loyalty, and today is bearing fruit in the construction and development of each country. It is a friendship as bright as the sunlight, as strong as the roots of trees in the wilderness, and as loyal as the blood flowing in the hearts of each of our people,” Mr. Loi shared.

Expressing his sincere thanks to the Union of Friendship Organizations of the City and individuals who created conditions for the Cuban National Assembly Delegation to meet, visit and share experiences, President of the Cuban National Assembly Esteban Lazo Hernandez highly appreciated the achievements that Vietnam has achieved in recent years, in which Ho Chi Minh City has emerged as the economic locomotive of the whole country.

Overviewing the situation in Cuba after the embargo, the Cuban economy suffered great damage and is facing difficulties, President of the Cuban National Assembly Esteban Lazo Hernandez also respectfully expressed his deep feelings for the support of Vietnam. Ho Chi Minh City has launched a fundraising movement to support solidarity and help the Cuban people.

The special feature of this movement is that it has mobilized the participation of all classes of people, government agencies, organizations and even students across the country.

“With more than 14 million USD from your movement, we have solved one of the most important problems: providing solar power to schools and people in remote areas... The 'Sun Without Borders' program and your support have contributed to deepening the relationship between the two countries, strengthening closer connections between Ho Chi Minh City and Cuban localities...,” Cuban National Assembly President Esteban Lazo Hernandez expressed his pride and hoped that the young generation of the two countries would promote tradition and further strengthen the friendly cooperation between the youth of the two countries.
