According to the reporter's records, all the stalls on the first floor and many outside businesses were flooded, leaving a thick layer of mud, sticky goods, and serious damage.

As soon as the water receded, traders rushed back to the market to clean up and inspect the damage. On the morning of November 22, most traders were present to collect trash, shovel mud and rearrange their stalls.
However, the recovery work encountered many obstacles because the market area still had no electricity and lacked clean water; garbage and mud were scattered everywhere, making it difficult to clean up, causing water to continue to seep into goods, increasing the damage rate.

Trader Vo Thi Thu Hong shared: “In the 2009 flood, the water had not yet reached the store. This time, I raised it two steps higher but still could not avoid it. I am in the electronics business and the damage was so great that I do not know what to do. Now everyone is wet, I can only try to clean up. I had to ask two friends to help, and save whatever I can.”
Mr. Vo Huu Du and his wife, Ms. Nguyen Thi Nguyet, choked up: “There is nothing more to say. The water level is beyond imagination. It is not that we are subjective, but it has been decades since we have seen such a scene. My family's grocery and leather goods stalls were completely flooded, and we considered them a total loss.”

According to preliminary statistics, of the 1,500 small traders at Tuy Hoa Central Market, about 1,000 households were flooded. In tents A and B alone, more than 800 households suffered up to 100% damage to their goods. Many lines of goods, especially incense and paper, were completely damaged.
Ms. Huynh Thi Ngoc Hoa, in charge of Tuy Hoa Central Bus Station Market Group, said: “It has just been storm No. 13, the damage rate is also very heavy, not yet recovered. Many traders have tried to recover but immediately encountered the fierce flood, now lost everything. The market management board has supported traders to clean up and count the damage. However, currently there is a power outage and a lack of clean water, so the recovery process is very difficult. We have to use rainwater for temporary cleaning. With this situation, it may take about a week for the market to be able to operate normally again.”

In addition to the immediate remedial work, the Market Management Board also compiled many recommendations from traders. According to Ms. Hoa, most traders want to have their taxes reduced or deferred; and receive partial funding to overcome the damage in order to stabilize business soon.
In addition, the Market Management Board proposed that all levels and sectors continue to invest in upgrading and renovating the market in a synchronous manner, especially the drainage system and market floor, to minimize the recurrence of deep flooding in the following floods.
As an important wholesale market in the Eastern region, the early restoration of Tuy Hoa Central Market will help ensure the supply of food and essential goods for people, while also supporting relief teams in areas still isolated after the flood.
