The world's richest people are founders and CEOs of technology companies, whose fortunes have soared thanks to their businesses, and one billionaire has just surpassed Amazon boss Jeff Bezos on the super-rich list, thanks to a new breakthrough in artificial intelligence (AI).
Google co-founder Larry Page recently added $6 billion to his net worth, bringing his total assets to $252 billion, after launching the company's latest AI model: Gemini 3.
The new model, seen as an improvement over the Gemini 2.5 released about eight months ago, has sparked optimism from investors and analysts, sending shares of Alphabet, Google's parent company, soaring 3%.
Gemini's success has helped Mr. Page, who owns about 6% of Alphabet, rise to third place on Bloomberg's daily ranking of the world's richest people.
Meanwhile, Mr Bezos was pushed down to fourth place on the list, due to the recent decline in wealth related to Amazon and the simultaneous increase in wealth of the Google co-founder.
Google co-founder Sergey Brin, who also owns a 6% stake in Alphabet, saw his fortune increase by $5 billion and ranked fifth on the list of the world's richest people.
Billionaires have seen their net worth rise and fall in the AI revolution.
The sector briefly made Oracle co-founder Larry Ellison the world's richest person, even surpassing Tesla CEO Elon Musk, before quickly losing $34 billion in net worth to fall to second place.
Concerns about an AI bubble are growing, but experts say the Gemini model is the real solution.
Google explains that Gemini 3 has improved suggestion capabilities, providing users with better quality answers to complex questions, without the need for elaborate suggestions to help the AI understand the context and intent behind their questions.
The new model will also be integrated into Google's search products, Gemini apps and enterprise services./.
