According to Vice Chairman of Thanh Oai District People's Committee Vu Quynh, the tournament attracted 13 lion - unicorn - dragon teams from 20 communes and towns in the district and districts in Hanoi city.
2025 is the third year the tournament has been held in Thanh Oai, demonstrating the district's interest and investment in developing culture and sports at the grassroots level. With an expanded scale, professional and methodical organization and careful preparation, the Lion - Lion - Dragon Tournament attracts a large number of people to cheer and enjoy.
In particular, the 2025 Open Lion - Unicorn - Dragon Competition is a sports competition and a cultural festival of the community, an opportunity for teams to exchange, spread traditional values, and improve the spiritual life of the people. This is also a practical activity to preserve and promote the art of lion - unicorn - dragon, a unique form of folk culture.
The teams compete in two main categories: 9-section dragon dance - demonstrating strength, uniformity and team spirit and lion dance - combining performing arts and elaborate acrobatic techniques.
As a result, the first prize in the nine-curve dragon dance category went to Nga Mi Thuong team, Thanh Mai commune, Thanh Oai district; the first prize in the unicorn dance category went to Phuc Minh Duong team, Hoan Kiem district. The teams: Thanh Oai, Dong Anh, Hoan Kiem won the second, third and encouragement prizes in other dance categories.
