Ho Chi Minh City pays tribute to generation of heroic women

NDO - On March 24, at the Ho Chi Minh City Command, the Military Women's Committee coordinated with the Ho Chi Minh City Women's Union to organize a meeting to honor Vietnamese Heroic Mothers, female heroes of the People's Armed Forces, female war invalids, female former prisoners, and female Saigon commandos on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification Day.

This is a practical and meaningful activity; expressing the respect, gratitude and appreciation of women in the Army for the sacrifices of heroic martyrs, heroic Vietnamese mothers, heroes of the People's Armed Forces, relatives of martyrs, families with meritorious services to the revolution, female war invalids, female former political prisoners, female Saigon commandos in the cause of national liberation struggle, building and defending the Fatherland.

At the meeting, delegates watched the reportage “Immortal Flowers” produced by the Military Women’s Committee in coordination with Vietnam National Defense Television; and had historical witness exchanges with two women, Truong My Hoa and Nguyen Thi Phi.

Speaking at the meeting, Colonel Nguyen Thi Thu Hien, member of the Central Executive Committee of the Vietnam Women's Union and Head of the Military Women's Committee, said that the 21 years of fighting against the US to save the country was a journey full of hardships and sacrifices, but also full of pride.

Through countless difficulties, hardships, losses and sacrifices, mothers, aunts and sisters remained loyal to the Party, maintained the fighting spirit of revolutionary soldiers, and made an important contribution to the victory of the General Offensive and Uprising in the spring of 1975, culminating in the Ho Chi Minh campaign, completely liberating the South, unifying the country, and making an important contribution to the overall victory of the entire Party, army and people, bringing the country into the era of national independence and socialism.

Representing women in the army, Colonel Nguyen Thi Thu Hien vows to follow in the footsteps of previous generations of mothers, aunts, and sisters to ignite the desire to contribute, constantly improve political qualities, awareness of compliance with State laws, and military discipline; actively study, practice, improve professional qualifications, maintain and promote the noble qualities of "Uncle Ho's soldiers" and the traditions of Vietnamese women and women in the army; Promote the emulation movement "Women in the Army with intelligence and courage, completing tasks well, building happy families, worthy of Uncle Ho's soldiers in the new period", study and follow Ho Chi Minh's ideology, morality and style, carry out the Campaign "Promoting tradition, dedicating talent, worthy of Uncle Ho's soldiers" in the new period and the emulation movement to win of the army, strive to overcome difficulties and challenges, be ready to receive and complete assigned tasks well, strive to achieve the criteria of "Intelligence, courage, discipline, humanity", actively contribute to the cause of building the army, strengthening national defense and protecting the Fatherland in the new situation.

Speaking at the meeting, Comrade Pham Thi Thanh Hien, President of the Ho Chi Minh City Women's Union expressed her deep gratitude for the great contributions and sacrifices of Vietnamese Heroic Mothers, Heroic Women of the People's Armed Forces, female war invalids, former female revolutionary prisoners, and female Saigon commandos who sacrificed for the independence and freedom of the Fatherland.

In the coming time, the City Women's Union will continue to carry out more practical activities to contribute to caring for the material and spiritual life of those who have contributed to the revolution, identifying it as a duty, responsibility and also a sentiment to express deep gratitude to those who have devoted and sacrificed for the cause of national liberation, national reunification and firmly protecting the socialist Fatherland of Vietnam. Cadres, members and women will unite, build and develop the organization to become stronger and stronger, contributing with all levels and sectors to resolutely enter a new era, an era of striving.
