Right after winning the 2025 AVC Nations Cup with the Vietnamese women's volleyball team , striker Tran Thi Thanh Thuy will work with Gumma Bank Green Wings W Club in the Japanese national championship.
Previously, Thanh Thuy wished to continue competing abroad to develop her skills, which was agreed by her management unit, VTV Binh Dien Long An . The Western team also accepted that Thanh Thuy would not be in the second phase of the 2025 National Volleyball Championship.

Thus, if joining Gumma Bank Green Wings W Club, this will be the 7th time Thanh Thuy has gone abroad. Previously, the 1997-born player had played in Japan (twice), Turkey, Indonesia, Thailand and Taiwan (China).
Gunma Green Wings W, who were promoted last year, finished last season due to a lack of quality foreign players. This year, the Japanese team has significantly strengthened its squad by recruiting middle blocker Nasya Dimitrova – the number 1 blocker in the Turkish National Championship and also Thanh Thuy’s former teammate at Kuzeyboru. In addition, they also have Olivia Rozanski – the main striker of the Polish national team, who played prominently for Besiktas.
According to the regulations of the Japanese National Championship, each team can only use a maximum of 3 foreign players on the field at the same time (1 Asian, 2 non-Asian), so Thanh Thuy is almost certain to have a starting position in the Gunma Green Wings W squad.
At the AVC Nations Cup 2025, Thanh Thuy received the title of best striker. After the tournament, she and her teammates returned to Quang Ninh to train in preparation for the VTV Cup 2025, taking place from June 28 to July 5 in Vinh Phuc.
