Achievements of 5 Kpop girl groups dominating the first half of 2024

(G)I-DLE

(G)I-DLE started 2024 on a high note with the release of their second full-length album "2" in January. The album achieved first-week sales of 1.54 million copies, a career-high for the group.

While the group's two songs "Wife" and "Super Lady" were well received, (G)I-DLE's real chart-topper in the first half of 2024 was the pop rock song "Fate".

THE SSERAFIM

"EASY" is LE SSERAFIM's hit release in the first half of 2024. The title track of the group's 3rd mini album was initially praised for its experimental style, becoming LE SSERAFIM's first song to enter Billboard's Hot 100.

Building on the early success of "EASY," LE SSERAFIM hopes to make it big with their performance at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival this past April.

IVE
The girls of IVE had a successful first half of 2024 with their first world tour, SHOW What I HAVE. The tour is scheduled to last until September of this year. The girls also released their second mini album, I'VE SWITCH, this past April.

Through the title track HEYA as well as the follow-up track Accendio, IVE successfully demonstrated their ability to execute experimental concepts while telling engaging stories.

NewJeans
Although NewJeans had a slow start in 2024 due to the controversy between HYBE and Min Hee Jin, the girl group once again easily topped music charts with their double single Bubble Gum/How Sweet.

Right after the success of Bubble Gum/How Sweet, NewJeans made a stir in Japan with their first Japanese single album Supernatural, accompanied by a large-scale fan meeting at Tokyo Dome on June 26-27.

aespa
aespa proved that staying true to their identity was the right path with their first full-length album, Armageddon.

Together, the catchy and quirky opening track Supernova and the powerful, dramatic title track Armageddon made a big splash in the K-pop scene at the start of summer.

Notably, as of June 28, Korean time, Supernova has once again confirmed its No. 1 position on Melon's Top 100 chart.
