In the face of criticism and rumors about the future of Japanese coaches, Vice President of the Football Association of Thailand (FAT), Mr. Chanvit Phalajivin, recently officially affirmed that no decision to fire will be made at this time.
The future of coaches Masatada Ishii and Takayuki Nishigaya will be decided after the upcoming important tournaments end.
In a media interview, Mr. Chanvit Phalajivin confirmed that the Football Association of Thailand will not make a hasty decision, despite the "War Elephants" disappointing 1-3 defeat to Turkmenistan in the second match of the 2027 Asian Cup Qualifiers.
"There will be no dismissal of Mr. Masatada Ishii at this time. We will wait patiently until the qualifying campaign ends. After that, the board will have a meeting to comprehensively evaluate his performance and discuss the future with him," Mr. Chanvit emphasized.
Thailand is facing the risk of not being able to participate in the 2027 Asian Cup finals after losing to direct opponent Turkmenistan.

Similarly, the future of coach Takayuki Nishigaya (Thailand U23 coach) is also being questioned after a series of poor results with 5 consecutive losses since taking office.
According to the FAT Vice President, the fate of this coach will be decided after the 2025 SEA Games, an extremely important tournament when Thailand is the host country.
"The results at the SEA Games at the end of this year will be the main measure for us to evaluate Coach Nishigaya's ability," he said.
According to Siam Sports , Mr. Chanvit has quashed rumors that newly appointed Technical Director, Mr. Anthony Hudson, was brought in to "stand by" to replace one of the two Japanese coaches.
"I would like to confirm that Mr. Anthony Hudson will not replace anyone. He was appointed to take on technical and strategic development work for Thai football, not related to direct coaching work at the national teams," said Mr. Chanvit.
In closing, FAT once again affirmed its consistent stance that all decisions will be made based on a clear evaluation process, rather than being influenced by pressure from external public opinion.
