During 9 years of dedication to his profession, Mr. Nguyen Minh Phung (born in 1994) - a Party cell member and teacher at Dong Thap School for Children with Disabilities (NDTKT) has devoted all his love and enthusiasm to his work, while diligently researching many new initiatives to apply in teaching. Thereby, helping disabled students of the school overcome difficulties, gradually improve in their studies and confidently integrate into the community.
Mr. Nguyen Minh Phung supports students in learning Math
Recalling the early days of his career as a teacher, Mr. Phung shared that in 2012, although he had passed the entrance exam to the economics department of a university in Ho Chi Minh City, his family's difficult circumstances forced him to temporarily put his studies on hold. With the desire to continue his education, he changed direction to study Primary Education at Dong Thap University. In 2016, after graduating, Mr. Phung decided to choose to work at Dong Thap NDTKT School. Although he knew that the work at this special school would be more difficult than at other places, with his love for the profession, Mr. Phung always promoted the sense of responsibility and exemplary behavior of a party member, actively studying and following Ho Chi Minh's ideology, morality, and style while carrying out assigned tasks.
As a teacher and Head of the Intellectual Disability Group, Mr. Phung enthusiastically helps and shares professional experience with colleagues to find effective teaching methods. Typical of these initiatives are: "Some measures to help students with intellectual disabilities in class 1.4B perform well in addition and subtraction of numbers within 10 at Dong Thap School for the Disabled" and "Measures to help students with intellectual disabilities perform well in addition and subtraction (without carrying) within 100 at Dong Thap School for the Disabled". When implementing these initiatives, Mr. Phung guides students to learn Math in a vivid and intuitive way through counting fingers, using counting sticks or small pieces of wood to count and cleverly integrating games, images, and vivid sounds into the lesson. From there, it creates more interest, helps students remember and understand the lesson better, contributing to the development of their thinking.
In addition to supporting students to study well, Mr. Phung also accompanies them to develop life skills by proposing to the school's Board of Directors to build a "Learning Club" model. The model is implemented in the form of organizing extracurricular lessons at school. During the lessons, teachers equip students with necessary life skills, practice communication skills, and know how to protect themselves. Or propose to organize a "Connecting Bus" with dancing and singing activities for disabled students to interact with students in other general schools. Thereby, helping disabled students gain more knowledge and life skills, gradually eliminating psychological barriers when interacting with the outside.
Not only devoted to teaching, as Vice President of the Trade Union of Dong Thap NDTKT School, Mr. Phung has performed well the task of representing, caring for and protecting the legitimate rights of union members and workers; actively implementing and participating in emulation movements launched by the higher-level Trade Union. Notably, he has enthusiastically participated in mobilizing and donating blood voluntarily. Up to now, Mr. Phung has mobilized 41 union members and workers in the school to donate blood; he and his family have donated blood voluntarily 31 times. Those drops of blood of love not only save the lives of patients but also spread the noble gesture to the students of the school.
Teacher Nguyen Minh Phung shared: “Educating disabled students is not an easy job, requiring great perseverance and patience from teachers. However, seeing disabled students develop in their studies every day makes all my fatigue disappear. That is also the motivation for me to stick with this school. Learning and following Uncle Ho's example is lifelong learning. In the coming time, I will continue to make efforts and devote myself to teaching, contributing to taking good care of and educating students”. With his dedication and contributions over the past 9 years, teacher Phung has repeatedly achieved the title of Emulation Fighter at the grassroots level; recognized by the Provincial Party Committee for meeting the criteria of "Excellent completion of tasks" for 5 consecutive years (2019 - 2023). At the same time, he received a Certificate of Merit from the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee and the Provincial Labor Federation for his outstanding achievements in Trade Union activities and implementation of school year tasks.
