Hanoi: An English teacher at Phan Huy Chu High School - Thach That resigned 5 days after the incident of using "you" and "I" to scold students on the podium.

Mr. Phung Duc Anh, principal of Phan Huy Chu High School - Thach That, said on the evening of October 6 that the authorities concluded that this teacher's behavior and language did not meet the standards of a teacher, causing negative public opinion among parents and students.

Specifically, the teacher called himself "your father", squeezed his chin, pointed at the student's face and said "do you understand, dog?" during the English class of class 10A9 on September 29. The video recording the teacher's behavior was shared on a parent forum, making many people angry.

According to Mr. Anh, on the morning of October 2, the teacher met and apologized to the student and their parents. The male student also apologized to the teacher for his disrespectful words and actions.

On the afternoon of October 3, during the school's disciplinary review meeting, this teacher admitted that his behavior and language were substandard, causing much outrage not only among students and parents but also among public opinion.

"The teacher submitted his resignation on October 4 and it was approved," Mr. Anh said.

Phan Huy Chu High School - Thach That also held a pedagogical council meeting to share experiences with the staff, teachers and employees; and disseminate the industry's regulations on teachers' ethics.

In addition, the school held a meeting of the parents' representative board to announce the results of the case resolution, and organized collective activities to educate students on life skills and civilized behavior on social networks. Currently, all educational activities of the school are taking place normally, and the psychology of teachers and students is stable.

At the conference to deploy the tasks of the school year in Hanoi on the morning of October 5, Director of the Hanoi Department of Education and Training Tran The Cuong also mentioned this. He said that Phan Huy Chu - Thach That is a private school, teachers sign contracts with the school, not on the state payroll. However, "whether it is a public or private school, teachers cannot use such inappropriate language."

According to Mr. Cuong, the incident affects parents' trust and the reputation of the education sector.

Phan Huy Chu - Thach That is a non-public high school with nearly 2,000 students. The school uses the 10th grade entrance exam results of the Hanoi Department of Education and Training for admission, with an average standard score of about 5 points per subject.
