Nguyen Trai Primary School, Dien Hong Ward, Gia Lai Province has officially reported on the incident in which parents accused a teacher of beating a second grade student, causing a stir in public opinion.

Previously, a parent posted on Facebook pictures and information about her child, a second grader at Nguyen Trai Primary School, being "disciplined" by the homeroom teacher, causing injuries to his arms and buttocks.

The complaint was accompanied by a photo of the boy with a red mark on his arm and a medical report. The parents questioned whether their child’s failure to attend the teacher’s extra classes was the reason for this behavior.

According to a report from Nguyen Trai Primary School, the incident occurred at around 1:00 p.m. on September 30. When Ms. LTNT, the homeroom teacher of class 2/1, arrived to take over the class, the students reported the actions of NTK, who was said to have lifted N.D.PK's leg onto the second floor railing in front of the class, witnessed by many other students.

Faced with this situation, Ms. T. used a plastic ruler to hit NTK 4 times on the buttocks. However, because the student covered his hand, the hit hit his hand. Afterwards, Ms. T. called to inform NTK's parent, Ms. KTTL (living in Dien Hong ward).

On October 1, Ms. L. went to the school to meet Ms. T. to express her disagreement with the disciplinary action that left red marks on her child’s hands and buttocks. At the meeting, Ms. T. admitted her mistake and explained that her actions stemmed from her concern for the safety of her students when she witnessed dangerous behavior on the second floor railing.

A representative of Nguyen Trai Primary School said the school has worked with relevant parties to find the best solution, ensuring that it does not affect the students' psychology. However, parents said that the apology was not enough and asked the school to respond about how to handle the teacher.

The school leader said: “The teacher cannot be disciplined immediately because a school board meeting is needed to clarify the violations. Regarding the parent’s accusation that the teacher taught extra lessons, the school has checked and found no violations. She is renting her house to someone else to teach dance.”
