Fishermen earn millions each time they go out to sea after catching a lot of silver pomfret.

In recent days, the weather has been favorable, hundreds of boats in Tien Dien commune have been rushing out to sea to catch seafood after many days stuck ashore due to rough seas. After a night drifting at sea, at around 7am, the boats of fishermen from Yen Ngu village, Tien Dien commune returned one after another in joy and excitement after catching a batch of silver pomfret. Fishermen stretched out tarps to cover the sun and quickly removed the fish. Fisherman Nguyen Van Minh, Yen Ngu village excitedly said: "After days of struggling to cope with storm No. 10, when the sea was calm, we fishermen continued to go out to sea. On this trip, my boat was lucky to catch more than 100 kg of silver pomfret, after deducting expenses, we earned 4 million VND.
According to the locals, this is the season for silver pomfret (from August to October of the lunar calendar). To catch them, fishermen usually have to go out to sea at 3am, and when they are about 10-12 nautical miles from shore, they drop their nets. "The first silver pomfret fish of the season are fatty and popular because of their delicious taste and easy consumption," said fisherman Pham Van Uy, in Yen Ngu village. Silver pomfret has an elongated body, sweet meat, rich in nutrients, and is popular in the market.
Silver pomfret is currently being sold at prices ranging from 40,000 - 60,000 VND/kg. Due to high demand, this type of fish is purchased by traders on the spot. Over the past two days, hundreds of boats here have gone out to sea and caught silver pomfret. On average, each boat catches between 0.7 and 1.2 quintals of fish, earning 3 to 5 million VND per trip after deducting expenses.
After the storm, the bustling atmosphere of fishermen going to sea is spreading across the coast of Tien Dien commune. The silver pomfret season has just begun, but the first successful trips seem to give them more motivation to actively stick to the sea with the hope of a bumper fishing season.
