Bolivian Ambassador Maria Luisa Ramos Urzagaste confirmed: “The President of Bolivia has been invited to attend the BRICS Summit in Kazan and he gladly accepted this invitation from Russian President Vladimir Putin.”
The diplomat added that Mr Arce also plans to meet his Russian counterpart Putin on the sidelines of the event.
Meanwhile, Brazilian Ambassador Rodrigo Baena Soares also confirmed: "Yes, he (President Lula da Silva) will attend the meeting."
In June 2024, Watcher.guru reported that the BRICS Summit is scheduled to take place in October 2024 in Russia's Kazan region and four new members, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Egypt, Iran and Ethiopia, will officially join the event.
BRICS currently consists of 10 members: Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa, UAE, Egypt, Iran, Ethiopia and Saudi Arabia.
The summit will be chaired by Russian President Vladimir Putin. Reports suggest that BRICS will invite many world leaders from developing countries to attend the summit.
In 2024 alone, seven new countries have expressed interest in joining the BRICS alliance ahead of the 16th summit. Several developing countries see benefits in becoming members of the bloc.
