According to an announcement dated December 3, 2025, from the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA), Hoa Phat Wire Steel Co., Ltd. - a member of Hoa Phat Group - will be subject to an anti-dumping duty rate of only 5.7%, the lowest among all the companies under investigation.

Notably, this tariff may be zero if the export price of galvanized steel wire to Canada is equal to or higher than the "normal value" as determined by the CBSA.

This is the final conclusion in the anti-dumping investigation into carbon and alloy steel wire (galvanized wire rod) imported from 10 countries and territories, including Vietnam. The investigation was initiated on April 22, 2025.

In its conclusion, the CBSA determined the dumping margin for Hoa Phat Wire Steel to be 5.7%, more than half the preliminary rate of 13.4% and significantly lower than the 158.9% duty applied to other Vietnamese companies. This represents a substantial competitive advantage for Hoa Phat in the Canadian market.

Thanks to full cooperation and the provision of transparent data systems, Hoa Phat was allowed by CBSA to apply the "normal value" mechanism - meaning that if the company exports at a price equal to or higher than the level determined by CBSA, the countervailing duty will be 0%. Only when the export price is lower than this threshold will the 5.7% tax be applied.

Meanwhile, exporting businesses from many other countries such as China, Taiwan, India, Italy, Spain, etc., face tariffs ranging from 42.7% to 158.9%, creating a huge disparity in competitiveness.

The investigation results in Canada continue a series of positive signals for Hoa Phat in its international trade activities. In 2025, both the EU and India concluded that no anti-dumping duties would be imposed on the group's hot-rolled steel coils.

Galvanized steel wire – a product of Hoa Phat Steel Wire Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of Hoa Phat Metal Manufacturing Co., Ltd. – has been manufactured by Hoa Phat since 2017 to replace imported goods and rapidly build a wide export market, including the US, Canada, Mexico, and many Southeast Asian countries.

Hoa Phat Group is currently the largest steel producer in Southeast Asia and ranks among the top 30 largest steel companies in the world . From 2026 onwards, the Group's steel production capacity will reach 16 million tons per year, focusing on hot-rolled coil (HRC) and high-quality steel – products that serve as a foundation for domestic industry and export sectors.

Being granted the lowest tariff rate in Canada throughout the entire investigation not only facilitates market retention but also opens up opportunities for Hoa Phat to increase its market share in North America, strengthening the position of the Vietnamese enterprise on the global steel map.
