Grade 12 students prepare for high school graduation exam in June

According to statistics from the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City, 97,940 students registered for the high school graduation exam, of which foreign language was the most chosen subject with 49,328 students (50.37%), the subject with the second most chosen students was physics with 43,176 students (44.08%).
Then, chemistry with 27,796 students registered, geography with 25,220, history with 24,074, biology with 8,073, economic and legal education with 15,143 students.
Informatics, technology - agriculture and technology - industry are the subjects with the least number of candidates registering. Of which, 737 students chose informatics, 213 students chose technology - agriculture and 109 students chose technology - industry.
Also according to the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City, this year Ho Chi Minh City has 1,724 candidates exempted from the foreign language exam, accounting for 1.76%.
Actual records at high schools regarding registration for high school graduation exams show that among the elective subjects, English, physics, and chemistry account for an overwhelming proportion, especially in top schools with high high school entrance scores. Schools in suburban areas or schools with 10th grade admission scores in the top 2 or lower have a lower number of students choosing 2 graduation subjects in the natural sciences, but the difference is not large.
For example, according to statistics from Gia Dinh High School (Binh Thanh District), of the 943 12th graders, 709 students chose English, the subject with the largest number of students. Then came physics with 512 students, chemistry with 320, biology with 116, history with 87, economic and legaleducation with 75 students, geography with 28 and information technology with 22 students.
Nguyen Huu Huan High School (Thu Duc City), has 497 students choosing English, 352 students choosing physics, chemistry ranked 3rd with 241 students, followed by biology with 53 students and history with 48, geography with 39, economic and legal education with 21 and the lowest is information technology with 6 students choosing, technology has no students registering.
Similarly, at Tay Thanh High School (Tan Phu District), English is still the subject with the highest number of students taking the exam with 674 students, followed by physics with 544 students, and chemistry with 229 students. The number of students choosing history and geography is only about 50% compared to the number of students choosing physics and chemistry. The subjects with much lower number of students choosing are economics and law education, and information technology.
As for Ernst Thälmann High School (District 1), according to Mr. Nguyen Hung Khuong, the school's principal, statistics show that out of 513 12th grade students, 430 students chose English, 257 students chose physics, 118 students chose chemistry, 82 students chose economic and legal education, 56 students chose biology, 49 students chose history, and 34 students chose geography.
The 2025 high school graduation exam will take place on June 26-27 and this year is the first year that candidates will take 4 exams with 2 compulsory subjects: math and literature and 2 elective subjects from the subjects they have studied.
