This is the highest liquidity level in more than 25 years of market development. However, behind this record appeared technical problems that caused many investors to "lose connection" at the time when action was most needed.
During the trading session on July 29, many large securities companies recorded a situation where the price boards were slow to update. The electronic boards of some securities companies even “froze” at the time when the VN-Index dropped 25 points, not displaying the real-time VN-Index that dropped 50-60 points afterwards.
At some securities companies, customers reported that the mobile trading application was faulty and unstable, directly affecting customers' ability to place orders and manage their portfolios.
Many investors are frustrated when they miss important buying or selling times just because the system is interrupted.
The above incident is not the first time the Vietnamese stock market has encountered technical problems during peak trading sessions. However, the increasing trading volume, the increasingly fast order matching speed, along with the popularity of individual investment via digital platforms, are making the demand for technology infrastructure in the securities industry more urgent than ever.
More than just a quick price list or a beautiful application, technology systems now must ensure high stability, flexible scalability, and especially strict financial security standards. In the context of increasingly sophisticated cyber attacks, a small technical vulnerability can also pose a great risk to assets and user data.
It is worth noting that, amidst the “technology storm” on July 29, many securities companies still maintained stable and smooth trading activities. FPTS representative said that the entire price board system and trading platform of the company still operated normally, without recording any lag, congestion or interruption, thanks to the proactive system architecture designed specifically, not depending on the gateway of a third party.
According to this representative, FPTS has identified technology as the “vital foundation” in its strategy for developing securities services, especially in the context of investors increasingly demanding convenience, speed and high data security. Investments in technology infrastructure are made throughout, from the order placement system, risk management to data centers and security. In particular, FPTS has proactively developed its own core trading system, not outsourcing and proactively fine-tuning and upgrading according to the Company's needs.
From this reality, an important message is given to investors: when choosing a securities company, in addition to familiar factors such as transaction fees, consulting team or financial products, technology must be given priority.
A strong technology platform not only helps smooth transactions in normal market conditions, but also acts as a safety cushion during highly volatile sessions, when all decisions need to be made promptly, without delay or interruption. At the same time, securities companies with independent, proactive systems and not too dependent on third parties will be able to adapt better to unexpected risk situations.
With the market upgrading trend approaching, and the increasing domestic and foreign capital flows, the trading and operational management system in Vietnam will have to enter a new transformation cycle - where technology becomes the decisive factor in competitiveness and the ability to serve investors.
Securities companies cannot just stop at "running" under normal conditions, but must prepare carefully for the upcoming boom period, ensuring both the ability to handle huge transaction volumes and the ability to defend against increasingly sophisticated technological risks.
For investors, proactively learning about the technology infrastructure, trading system, security capabilities and stability of a securities company is a necessary step, so that every financial decision is made at the right time, in the right way – and safely.
