Ms. Nhu Mai (in Ward 8, Vinh Long City) said that recently she has paid more attention to fire prevention than before. "I always remind my children not to charge electronic devices overnight, to unplug electrical devices when leaving the house, and not to burn trash..." - Ms. Mai said. Although her house is on a wide street and fire trucks can reach her house, she is looking to buy a fire extinguisher in case of an accident, but is a little worried "I don't know what type of fire extinguisher to buy, where to buy quality?".

Ms. Thuy An (in Ward 4, Vinh Long City) said: “I visited some sales points and was advised by the sellers to buy a rope ladder, fire extinguisher and smoke mask for the whole family for a few million VND, which was also… scary. Therefore, I carefully researched the information and quality of the equipment before buying.”

At some stores, Vietnamese fire extinguishers are priced as follows: BC Dargon powder extinguisher 440,000 VND/4kg, 550,000-590,000 VND/8kg, 2,900,000 VND/35kg; Dargon CO2 extinguisher 690,000 VND/3kg, 895,000 VND/5kg; Tomoken CO2 extinguisher 920,000 VND/5kg. Chinese fire extinguishers: 500ml mini extinguisher 50,000 VND/extinguisher; ACB powder extinguisher 150,000 VND/1kg, 370,000 VND/4kg, 470,000 VND/8kg, 2,600,000 VND/35kg; CO2 cylinders cost 590,000 VND/3kg cylinder, 750,000 VND/5kg cylinder... Fire extinguishers for cars cost 150,000 VND/cylinder. Gas masks, anti-suffocation masks, tear gas masks, breathing difficulties masks... cost 110,000-400,000 VND/piece. Fire extinguisher pumps and refills cost a few hundred thousand VND less than the original cylinders.

At the TA labor protection equipment store on 1 Thang 5 Street (Ward 1, Vinh Long City), the store owner said that in recent weeks, many consumers have asked to buy more fire protection equipment. Here, they sell fire extinguishers, escape ladders, anti-smoke and anti-toxic masks... In which, fire extinguishers include powder and gas, priced from 100,000 VND to more than 1,000,000 VND/cylinder. With the same weight, gas cylinders are priced a few hundred thousand VND higher than powder cylinders.

Pointing to the 5m rope ladder placed in front of the store, the owner of the store said: “Recently, many families are interested in buying this ladder. Some parents whose children study in the city in high-rise buildings, apartments... buy it for their children to take with them. Currently, the store only has this one rope left. If anyone wants to buy rope of another size, please order it and wait a few days for it to arrive.”

At a store specializing in selling fire protection equipment, installing fire protection systems, and pumping and refilling fire extinguishers on Pho Co Dieu Street (Ward 3, Vinh Long City), an employee said: "The rope ladder is only available on order, the price is calculated by meter, about 150,000 VND/m, the 2 hooks are about 300,000 VND more. Usually, there is no completely fireproof rope for sale, but these devices will withstand heat to a certain extent."

According to this employee, the fire extinguishers being sold are powder and gas extinguishers manufactured in Vietnam and China. Households often use CO2 gas extinguishers because when there is a fire, if powder is sprayed on, the cleaning process afterwards is more difficult than with gas extinguishers, especially for electronic devices, if the powder sticks to them and is not cleaned thoroughly, it will corrode the electronic devices... The warranty period for the extinguisher is 1 year, after 1 year, check again, if there is still pressure (green needle) it is normal, if red means there is no pressure, then refill.

This employee also added, “The store has been selling these items for many years. Every time a fire occurs, especially in the province, more and more consumers come to buy fire protection equipment. Mostly households because companies and businesses have periodically and mandatory equipment.”

I think, equipping fire fighting equipment is necessary, we should not only increase equipment when there is a fire.

Every household should have a fire extinguisher and an emergency exit.

Message to individual subscribers from the Ministry of Public Security : To ensure fire safety and escape, the Ministry of Public Security recommends: Strictly manage fire and heat sources; regularly check and promptly replace damaged electrical equipment and power grids; when using gas stoves, electric stoves, irons, etc., there must be someone supervising; turn off electrical equipment when not in use. When a fire occurs: Calmly notify everyone and find the fastest way to escape the fire; do not use the elevator to escape; when moving, lower your body, use a wet towel or cloth to cover your mouth and nose to avoid smoke inhalation. Each household must have a fire extinguisher and a backup escape route.
