The growing area code (MSVT) is an identification code for a growing area to monitor production status, control product quality, trace the origin of crops, thereby contributing to improving product quality, expanding consumption markets, creating trust for consumers with products of clear origin... With this benefit, in recent times, Thieu Hoa district has focused on forming specialized growing areas and building MSVT.
Thieu Phuc Commune uses drones to spray pesticides on rice production areas with assigned growing area codes.
As a locality with many favorable conditions for agricultural production, right from the time of planning to build a rice MSVT, Thieu Phuc commune assigned Thieu Phuc Agricultural - Electricity Service Cooperative to build a rice MSVT with an area of 10 hectares in village 2, with about 50 households and cooperatives participating in production. Mr. Nguyen Van Tinh, director of the Cooperative, said: With the desire to help people apply improved rice cultivation processes through the model, improve rice quality, the Cooperative has organized propaganda sessions to help people understand the benefits of participating in building a rice MSVT, in addition, training in science and technology for people to apply in actual production. During the implementation process, the Cooperative always accompanies, regularly checks and supervises the technical process, provides fertilizers with deferred payment to people... At the same time, instructs households to meticulously record the stages of fertilizing, spraying, and harvesting; Use organic fertilizers and pesticides on the list of permitted uses, suitable for each stage of growth and development of crops, absolutely do not use herbicides and ensure sufficient quarantine time before bringing products to market. Ms. Tran Thi Ly, a resident of village 2 whose rice area is currently granted MSVT, said: Although applying many production techniques is still quite new to our people, but with the enthusiastic guidance of local authorities, cooperatives, and favorable weather conditions, in this crop, the area granted MSVT is expected to have a yield about 10% higher than the traditional rice production area; especially the area granted MSVT has signed a product consumption contract with the enterprise. In the coming time, Thieu Phuc commune has a plan to expand the rice production area granted MSVT to about 20 hectares.
The establishment of MSVT not only helps trace the origin but also closely links production to a certain process to meet the requirements of the markets. From there, it contributes to changing the production thinking and actions of people and management staff in localities in the district; bringing positive impacts and effects in improving the competitiveness of agricultural products, promoting production linkages, and forming sustainable value chains. Currently, in Thieu Hoa district, there are more than 50 hectares of crops granted MSVT with 4 rice MSVTs, 2 Kim Hoang Hau melon MSVTs and 1 yellow melon MSVT.
Mr. Trinh Duc Hung, Head of the District Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, said: MSVT can be considered the key to improving the quality and expanding the consumption market for agricultural products. To raise awareness and understanding for officials, localities, and cooperatives about safe agricultural production, technical requirements for concentrated growing areas, and State management in building MSVT for key agricultural products such as rice, vegetables, fruits, etc., the District People's Committee has organized training sessions on the process of establishing production areas for key crops according to VietGAP or equivalent processes, and disseminated mandatory regulations of import markets such as pest management, pest monitoring processes in growing areas, and requirements for the use of pesticides, etc. In addition, in the process of implementing MSVT construction, the district regularly follows the grassroots, coordinates with local authorities to organize training courses on science and technology transfer, and guides on procedures. At the same time, assign officers to inspect and supervise the growing areas to promptly correct and guide the implementation of regulations; propagate and encourage people to continue to comply with the regulations of the granted MSVT.
