On December 30, according to information from the Ho Chi Minh City Orthopedic Trauma Hospital, this hospital just received a boy named NAK, living in Binh Duong , who was hit in both hands by exploding firecrackers.
The patient said he played with fireworks at 10am on December 27 in Binh Duong. He was admitted to the Orthopedic Trauma Hospital at 3:36pm the same day.
According to Dr. Vo Hoa Khanh, head of the quality management department of the Orthopedic Trauma Hospital, the above case is a very serious injury caused by playing with firecrackers and leaving sequelae.
Because his right hand was crushed, doctors had to amputate it at the wrist. In addition, the patient also suffered a fractured right forearm, a fractured left thumb, and many injuries to his neck, face, knees, shoulders, etc.
The resulting disability is permanent and includes physical pain as well as mental trauma.
As Tet approaches, accidents caused by firecrackers begin to appear (especially among teenagers).
Although the sale of fireworks and homemade fireworks is banned and has been warned many times, tragic accidents caused by fireworks still occur every year and leave serious consequences, such as injuries to both hands and forearms (crushed, broken bones, etc.), eye injuries (corneal burns, blindness, etc.).
Doctor Khanh recommends raising people's awareness and avoiding being negligent and subjective about the dangers that exist when firecrackers explode.
Do not secretly store, produce and make fireworks. Schools and families must advise and remind students not to imitate learning how to make fireworks through videos and clips on the internet, and not to be curious and buy materials to make fireworks on social networks...
