When put into operation, the projects will help reduce traffic pressure and increase connectivity for the southern and western gateways of Ho Chi Minh City.
On December 30, the Ho Chi Minh City Traffic Construction Investment Project Management Board (Traffic Board) coordinated with the Department of Transport (DOT) and the People's Committees of District 7, Binh Tan District, Nha Be District, and Binh Chanh District to organize the opening ceremony of 4 traffic projects at the southern and western gateways of Ho Chi Minh City.
Clear roads, clear bridges, excited people
The three projects at the southern gateway include Phuoc Long Bridge; HC1 underpass at the Nguyen Van Linh - Nguyen Huu Tho intersection (connecting District 7 with Nha Be District) and the parallel road of National Highway 50, from Trinh Quang Nghi Street to the intersection of the parallel road and National Highway 50, Binh Chanh District.
Excitedly walking on Phuoc Long Bridge after the opening ceremony, Ms. Dinh Thi Cam Lanh happily said that she had been waiting for the bridge for more than 3 years. Ms. Lanh said that her house is right at the foot of the bridge in District 7, the completion of the project will make her and her neighbors' business more convenient.
"This morning, when the bridge opened, everyone was excited because it was convenient to travel, and they no longer had to breathe in dust and smoke due to traffic jams caused by the old, narrow bridge like before," the woman explained.
The Phuoc Long Bridge construction investment project has a total investment of 737 billion VND, creating a connection with Huynh Tan Phat Street and Nguyen Huu Tho Street, contributing to improving traffic conditions and creating momentum for socio -economic development. Nearby is the HC1 tunnel branch, which has been recorded since its opening to traffic, significantly reducing the load on the surrounding area, and the Nguyen Van Linh - Nguyen Huu Tho intersection is no longer "stressed" during rush hour.
HC1 underpass just opened to traffic
Also at the southern gateway, the National Highway 50 Parallel Section reduces the load on the existing road of the same name. During the opening ceremony, in addition to excitement, people also expressed their hope that the entire project to upgrade and expand this national highway will be completed, ending the current narrow state, reducing congestion and accidents.
At the western gateway, the project to upgrade and expand Tan Ky Tan Quy Street from Ma Lo Street to Binh Long Street, Binh Tan District, was also officially opened to traffic from December 30. The project creates a clear traffic appearance, is the premise for expanding the entire Tan Ky Tan Quy route, adding an axis connecting suburban residents to the city center and the gateway to Tan Son Nhat airport.
