Weather on August 29: Heavy rain in the midlands and deltas of the North and Da Nang

According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, last night and early this morning (August 29), the Central Highlands and the South had scattered showers and thunderstorms, with some places having heavy rain.

Rainfall from 7pm on August 28 to 3am on August 29 was over 50mm in some places such as: Mo Rai Station (Quang Ngai) 92.8mm; Yang Nam Station (Gia Lai) 51mm; Ho Da Den Station ( Ho Chi Minh City) 59.6mm.

Heavy rain forecast in the next 24-48 hours (from the evening and night of August 29 to the night of August 30): The midlands, the Northern Delta and Da Nang will have moderate rain, heavy rain and thunderstorms. Total rainfall: 70-150mm, locally over 300mm. Rainfall will mainly be in the evening and night of August 29 to the night of August 30.

The National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting warns of rainfall intensity greater than 150mm/3 hours. The area from Thanh Hoa to Hue will have heavy to very heavy rain. Total rainfall is generally 120-250mm, locally over 450mm. Rainfall will mainly occur in the evening and night from August 29 to August 30.

According to forecasts, rainfall in the midlands, the Northern Delta and Da Nang is from 30-50 mm, locally over 100 mm.

From Thanh Hoa to Hue 50-100 mm, locally over 150 mm.

Total rainfall from the evening and night of August 29 to August 31 in the midlands, the Northern Delta and Da Nang is generally 100-200mm, locally over 400mm.

From Thanh Hoa to Hue, the average temperature is 150-350mm, locally over 600mm. Natural disaster risk due to heavy rain, tornadoes, lightning, and hail is at level 1; in the area from Thanh Hoa to Quang Tri, level 2.

Heavy rain can cause flooding in low-lying areas, urban areas and industrial zones; flash floods on small rivers and streams; landslides on steep slopes.

The National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting reported that at 1:00 a.m. on August 29, the center of the tropical depression was at about 15.4 degrees North latitude, 114.9 degrees East longitude, in the North East Sea, about 320km East Southeast of Hoang Sa special zone.

The strongest wind near the center of the tropical depression is level 6-7 (39-61km/h), gusting to level 9, moving west at a speed of 10km/h. In Phu Quy special zone (Lam Dong) and Huyen Tran station (Ho Chi Minh City), there is strong southwest wind at level 6, gusting to level 8.

Forecast of strong winds and rain in the next 24 hours: North East Sea area (including Hoang Sa special zone) and North of Central East Sea area: wind level 6-7, near the center of tropical depression level 8, gust level 10. Rough sea. Waves 3-5m high.
