Although the floods have been over for more than two weeks, the water in the Chut stream is still flowing rapidly, making it difficult for nearly 40 households living on the other side of the stream to travel.
Every day, to reach the main village road, residents have no choice but to wade across the stream. Because the stream is wide, crossing it is very inconvenient and poses many safety risks, especially for the nearly 30 children of school age. On many days with heavy rain, the stream rises, forcing many students to miss school and isolating 35 households.

In response to this situation, the People's Committee of Van Ban commune mobilized machinery and local people to build two temporary bridges across the stream. The bridge locations were surveyed and selected at the site of the old bridge abutments or at points where the stream bed was narrow and the water level was low. These temporary bridges initially meet the needs of people traveling by motorbike and on foot, especially making it safer for students to get to school.
Mr. Ha Van Van, a resident of Lang Chut village, Van Ban commune, shared: "Although they are only two temporary bridges, we are very happy because we will no longer have to wade through the stream. Travel for residents and students in the village will be more convenient and safer. However, because they are temporary bridges, we must always be vigilant and avoid crossing them during heavy rain to prevent accidents."

The construction of the temporary bridge is only a stopgap solution. Due to its rudimentary structure, Van Ban commune advises people not to cross the bridge during storms to ensure safety. In the long term, the local authorities have petitioned higher levels of government to invest in building a permanent bridge to ensure the transportation and trade needs of the people.
