Letter from the Minister of Defense to officers and professional soldiers participating in earthquake relief in Myanmar

Dear comrades, officers and professional soldiers participating in overcoming the consequences of the earthquake in Myanmar

Dear comrades!

On the morning of March 28, 2025, a strong earthquake occurred in Myanmar, causing extremely serious damage to people and property. According to statistics, to date, more than 3,000 people have died and tens of thousands have been affected. The Myanmar government has called on the international community to support, rescue, and overcome the consequences.

Promoting the tradition of mutual love and support of the nation, "love others as you love yourself", in the spirit of "Vietnam is a friend, a reliable partner and an active, responsible member of the international community"; responding to the call of the Myanmar government; implementing the direction of the Standing Secretariat, the Prime Minister, the Central Military Commission, the Ministry of National Defense decided to send 80 officers, professional soldiers and equipment to support Myanmar in overcoming the consequences of the earthquake.

Although the mission was carried out in a very short period of time, facing extremely harsh weather conditions, dangers from continuing tremors, difficulties in equipment, accommodation, living and working conditions, with courage, experience, qualifications and high determination, the comrades did not mind the difficulties, hardships and sacrifices, racing against time, taking advantage of every hour, every minute, using all their intelligence and available means to coordinate the search, bringing many victims out of the collapsed area, and handing them over to the Myanmar government. The activities of the comrades deeply demonstrated the noble international spirit, the fine traditions of the nation and the noble qualities of "Uncle Ho's soldiers".

The Central Military Commission and the Ministry of National Defense acknowledge, commend and highly appreciate the sense of responsibility, efforts and achievements of you comrades. The tasks in the coming days are still very heavy, difficult and dangerous; every passing moment shortens the lives of the victims. I hope that you comrades will continue to make efforts, be more determined, and help more victims. The Government and people of Myanmar are looking forward to your help. The Fatherland and the Vietnam People's Army are always proud to stand with you comrades.
