Deputy Minister Nguyen Thanh Lam was appointed as General Director of Vietnam Television.

On November 1, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh signed a decision to transfer and appoint Deputy Minister of Information and Communications Nguyen Thanh Lam to hold the position of General Director of Vietnam Television.

Before holding the position of Deputy Minister of Information and Communications, Mr. Nguyen Thanh Lam worked for many years at Vietnam Television, holding the positions of General Director of VTC Digital Television Station, Director of the Department of Radio and Television, and Director of the Department of Press.

VTV is a government agency, a national television station, a key multimedia media agency, performing the function of informing and propagating the Party's guidelines and policies and the State's laws.

The VTV General Director is responsible to the Government, the Prime Minister and before the law for all activities of the station. The Deputy General Directors assist the General Director and are responsible to the General Director and before the law for the assigned areas.
The General Director appoints, dismisses, and removes the head and deputy head and regulates the functions, duties, powers, organizational structure, and working relationships of affiliated units.
