Over the years, Vietnam has always affirmed its role as an active and responsible member of the international community, complying with international law, especially the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS).
Vietnam has always been proactive in conserving and sustainably using the sea and marine resources and is ready to contribute to the international common efforts in this field; it has taken many drastic and strong measures to implement SDG 14.
At previous conferences, Vietnam sent representatives to attend and discuss at main and thematic sessions, thereby contributing to the common efforts of the international community towards the conservation and sustainable use of oceans, seas and marine resources.
This is the first time Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh has attended the United Nations Ocean Conference, clearly demonstrating Vietnam's initiative and commitment to working with the international community to address global issues, in line with the important orientations of our Party and State to develop a sustainable marine economy; promote cooperation and partnership for a blue, peaceful, stable, sustainable and prosperous ocean as the conference aims for.
Participating and contributing to UNOC 3 is an opportunity for Vietnam to introduce its achievements in implementing SDG 14, while exchanging international experiences and enhancing cooperation in science, technology, equipment and finance for the implementation of SDG 14 in the country.
