Ericsson Group (Sweden) 'ready to help Vietnam leapfrog' in digitalization

Ericsson (1876) is a Swedish multinational telecommunications and networking company, one of the world's leading telecommunications groups, especially in the field of 5G network infrastructure.

Operating since 1993, Ericsson Vietnam has provided equipment and solutions to major operators such as Viettel, VNPT, Mobifone ... on all mobile technologies, including GSM, WCDMA, LTE and 5G. Ericsson is still an important telecommunications equipment supplier and a long-term partner of Viettel, VNPT and Mobifone.

At the meeting, Ericsson CEO wished to continue cooperation to deploy 5G technology, promote digital transformation and industry 4.0 to support Vietnam's economic growth and innovation.

Appreciating the commitment and efforts of Vietnam and the Prime Minister himself in the digital transformation process of Vietnam, he said that Vietnam is one of the first countries to successfully commercialize the 5G network, with very capable telecommunications and technology enterprises.

He affirmed that mobile networks are essential national infrastructure, and having a reliable, secure and safe connection system is an important step to promote digital society, digital government, digital economy, digital citizens, and promote innovation. Ericsson will continue to cooperate with Vietnamese partners in human resource exchange, deploy 5G-related services and be ready to deploy 6G in the future.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh highly appreciated Ericsson's support and effective cooperation in developing digital infrastructure in Vietnam; said that Vietnam wants to cooperate more closely and effectively with Ericsson in the new stage of national development; emphasized that Vietnam is strongly transforming its organizational apparatus, institutions, awareness and vision, especially in promoting science and technology, innovation, digital transformation and private economic development.

Stating that institutional obstacles have been resolved, the Prime Minister hopes that Ericsson will invest and cooperate more strongly, extensively, comprehensively and effectively in Vietnam, specifically speeding up the cooperation process with Vietnamese enterprises such as Viettel, VNPT, Mobifone, competing fairly with other partners, and developing breakthroughs in the coming time.

In the context that Vietnam is still a developing country and on the basis of the good relationship between Vietnam and Sweden, the Prime Minister suggested that Ericsson focus on cooperation to pilot new contents in innovation and research towards 6G network; build a database to develop Vietnam's artificial intelligence; trust in transferring technology to Vietnam; prioritize supporting Vietnamese telecommunications and technology corporations to catch up, progress together and grow in the coming time.

The Prime Minister hopes that Ericsson will continue to be a good partner of Vietnam in the next 50-100 years, with the spirit of joint research, joint sharing, joint working, joint enjoyment, joint winning, joint development, in the spirit of harmonious benefits, shared risks, and competition for innovation.

Agreeing with the Prime Minister on the view that competition creates innovation, Ericsson's CEO reiterated his good impressions and said he would return to visit Vietnam, assessing that Ericsson's relationship with Vietnamese enterprises is not only a cooperation between enterprises but also contributes to promoting relations between the two countries.

He affirmed his full support and willingness to do whatever he could to help Vietnam promote its resources, "take shortcuts" in digitalization and not repeat the problems encountered in the process.
