Speaking at the congress of the center-left Social Democratic Party (SPD), Chancellor Scholz stated: "The conflict in Ukraine may not end anytime soon, but it is extremely important that Germany continues to stand in support of Ukraine."

He pledged that the budget crisis would not hinder Berlin's policy of supporting Kyiv amid the conflict. Currently, Germany is Ukraine's second-largest aid provider after the United States.

Chancellor Scholz's statement comes as his coalition government faces significant challenges in securing sufficient funding to finance its 2024 spending plans following a landmark ruling by the German Federal Constitutional Court.

In other developments, on December 9th, Ukrinform reported that, according to the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry, Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba will make a two-day visit to Brussels on December 11-12 to participate in a meeting of the European Union (EU) Foreign Affairs Council.

The Ukrainian Foreign Minister will pay particular attention to the European Council's decision on the country beginning EU accession negotiations on December 14-15. Another important topic is the mobilization of new military aid to Kyiv and joint production of weapons, ammunition, and military equipment with EU partners.

In addition, Mr. Kuleba will also participate in the Eastern Partnership Foreign Ministers' meeting (comprising the Foreign Ministers of EU member states along with Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Moldova, and Ukraine), the main theme of which is activities in 2024 to promote the EU integration of these Eastern European countries.

The Ukrainian Foreign Minister's visit to Brussels also included attending the GUAM Council of Foreign Ministers meeting, as well as bilateral meetings with Kyiv's counterparts.
