Pravda reported that in an interview with the media on August 12, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban said that Russia had won the conflict in Ukraine.
"We are now talking as if this is a never-ending conflict, but it is not. Ukraine lost and Russia won this war," said Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban.

According to the Hungarian Prime Minister, the only question now is "When and under what circumstances will the West, who are behind Ukraine, admit this and what will be the consequences of all this?".
Mr Orban also stressed that Ukraine should decide its own future.
Hungary's prime minister said Europe missed the opportunity to negotiate with Russian President Vladimir Putin under former US President Joe Biden and now risks having its future decided without being part of the process.
“If you don’t sit at the negotiating table, you will be targeted,” Mr Orban said, adding that he objected to part of the EU’s joint statement on Ukraine because it made Europe look “ridiculous and pathetic”.
Prime Minister Orban's statement was made just days before the summit between Russian President Vladimir Putin and US President Donald Trump takes place in Alaska on August 15.

Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Ryabkov said the talks between the two leaders would focus not only on resolving the Ukraine conflict but also on bilateral Russia-US relations, which had hit a new low during the administration of former President Joe Biden.
