On the evening of July 29, the Vietnam U23 team won the Southeast Asian U23 Championship for the third consecutive time after defeating host U23 Indonesia 1-0 in the final match.
Immediately after the championship, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh sent a congratulatory letter to coach Kim Sang Sik and his team.
The Prime Minister wrote: "Dear national U23 team. Tonight, millions of hearts of Vietnamese football fans continued to follow and cheer for you in the final match of the 2025 Southeast Asian U23 Championship.
Throughout the tournament, despite the difficulties, the whole team has always maintained a courageous and resilient fighting spirit, and especially tonight, you once again successfully defended the championship title of the 2025 Southeast Asian U23 Championship.

This is the third time our team has won the top spot in this tournament, and this is something to be very proud of.
On behalf of the Government and people of the whole country, I would like to send to all the players, coaching staff and service staff my warmest congratulations, along with my deep praise and gratitude for your tireless efforts, fair-play spirit, discipline and solidarity for the Vietnamese flag.
Today's victory is not only the result of talent and courage, but also a symbol of the will to rise, the belief in victory and the desire to conquer the peak of Vietnamese youth.
You have continued to write golden pages for our country's football, bringing joy and great pride to millions of Vietnamese people at home and abroad.
I hope that today's success will be the motivation for the team to continue to strive harder on the journey to conquer greater challenges, for a developed, professional and integrated Vietnamese sports.

Speaking to Tuoi Tre Online right after the championship of the Vietnam U23 team, President of the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) Tran Quoc Tuan said: "The U23 Southeast Asian Championship is a worthy achievement from the tireless efforts of the players and coaching staff of the team. The victory right on the Indonesian field, and three consecutive championships in Southeast Asia are truly miraculous for Vietnamese football.
This once again affirms that the strategy to develop Vietnamese football must start from the root, with the foundation of youth training being on the right track. The achievements of the U23 Vietnam team are a meaningful gift that the team and Vietnamese football send to the people of the whole country, towards the 80th anniversary of the sacred National Day September 2nd."
