Thai Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra congratulated Vietnam on its 79th National Day; thanked the Prime Minister for sending a letter and calling to congratulate her on her new position; emphasized that Vietnam is a close neighbor and an important partner of Thailand in the region; highly appreciated Vietnam's socio-economic development achievements; affirmed his readiness to cooperate with the Prime Minister of Vietnam to enhance comprehensive and effective cooperation between the two countries, for the benefit of the people of the two countries, for peace and stability in the region. Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra also thanked Vietnam for welcoming Princess Maha Chakri Sirinhorn of Thailand to Vietnam (August 13-15, 2024).
The two Prime Ministers assessed that the Vietnam-Thailand strategic partnership is developing strongly and effectively in all fields; agreed on the need to soon upgrade the bilateral relationship to a new level. Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh highly appreciated Thailand's position as Vietnam's largest trade partner and second largest foreign investor in ASEAN; affirmed that he would continue to facilitate Thai enterprises to do business effectively in Vietnam; supported Thailand's "Six Countries, One Destination" initiative to effectively exploit tourism potential among ASEAN countries; hoped that the two sides would cooperate closely to promote transport connectivity in the region; strengthen cultural cooperation, education - training, people-to-people exchange, facilitate and promote the role of a bridge of friendship between the people of the two countries. Thai Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra agreed with Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh on the need to coordinate closely, remove difficulties, and strive to soon bring two-way trade turnover to 25 billion USD; Strengthening the connection between the two economies through the effective implementation of the "Three Connectivity" Strategy. The Thai Prime Minister said that Vietnam and Thailand are two economies with close and complementary links; he hoped that the two countries would cooperate to promote their advantages to become the main driving force for economic growth in the region. Discussing regional and international issues of mutual concern, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh suggested that Vietnam and Thailand continue to cooperate closely, strengthen solidarity and the central role of ASEAN, support Laos in successfully fulfilling its role as ASEAN Chair in 2024, and sustainably develop the Mekong sub-region; coordinate to maintain ASEAN's common stance on the East Sea, contributing to peace, stability, cooperation and development in the region.VOV.vn
