Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh will lead a high-ranking Vietnamese delegation to attend the 47th ASEAN Summit and related summits in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, from October 25 to 28.

On October 22, according to a press release from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs , at the invitation of Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, ASEAN Chair 2025, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh will lead a high-ranking Vietnamese delegation to attend the 47th ASEAN Summit and related summits in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, from October 25 to 28.

This is the most important and largest series of conferences in Malaysia's ASEAN Chairmanship year 2025 with the participation of leaders of ASEAN countries, Timor-Leste and partner countries.

At the 47th ASEAN Summit, leaders will assess the results of ASEAN cooperation in 2025 under the theme "Inclusive and Sustainable", and orient the building of the ASEAN Community in the coming time, especially on the basis of building a roadmap and prioritizing the implementation of the ASEAN Community Vision 2045 and the Strategic Plans on politics - security, economics, culture - society and connectivity, improving the effectiveness of ASEAN-led mechanisms, substantivizing ASEAN's foreign relations, consolidating and promoting ASEAN's central role and discussing international and regional issues of mutual concern. In particular, on this occasion, leaders of countries will sign the Declaration on the Admission of Timor-Leste to ASEAN.

In 2025, ASEAN celebrates the 10th anniversary of the Community's establishment, entering the final year of implementing the 2025 Master Plans. To prepare for development in the new period, ASEAN adopted the ASEAN Community Vision 2045 along with four implementation strategies on politics - security, economy, culture - society and connectivity on the occasion of the 46th ASEAN Summit, aiming to build a "self-reliant, dynamic, innovative and people-centered ASEAN".

Currently, ASEAN is prioritizing the development of a roadmap and identifying priorities and focuses to comprehensively and effectively promote the above documents.

This year also marks three decades since Vietnam became a member of ASEAN. Practice has confirmed that the policy of joining ASEAN is a correct decision, of historical and strategic significance for the Party and State, bringing important benefits in terms of security, development and position.

Joining ASEAN is a "breakthrough", breaking the blockade and embargo, bringing Vietnam step by step to deeply integrate into the region and reach the international level. With the motto of being proactive, positive and responsible, we have made many practical contributions to the success of ASEAN, associated with the milestones of ASEAN's development.
